Observation flight question.

My friend and I had a disagreement. Lets say I launched a spotter plain from a suffern class cruiser which has the aircraft x(3) trait, and next turn it gets crippled and looses its aircraft x trait, does the spotter in the air still have its observation and +1 initiative function? Also, the rules state that observation aircraft only give the +1 to hit bonus for it’s ships main guns and no other type of weapon systems. Yet there are some Russian ships like the Profintern class light cruiser, that have the aircraft x trait but no main guns, just secondary guns. Is there a reason for this? Lastly if an observation aircraft in the air has it’s ship sunk, is there any way it can be used to spot for another ship?

1. You get the +1 until the observer is shot down.
2. Those crazy Russians... Taking the rules as they are it would get no bonus from its observers...
3. There is no way to transfer an abserver whoase ship has been sunk.

Observation aircraft were used for aerial reconnaisance and (in some ases) anti submarine ops as well as gunnery spotting (in fact they were rarely used for this purpose).
