NPC list

A project came to me recently to create a list of low level NPCs for my GM so he has stats to reference for common foes without having to shuffle through various books or have to come up with something on the fly. I am putting up this post for 2 reasons: 1 to offer it to other GMs for their convenience and 2 to solicit suggestions for what people would like to see in the list. this is going to be mostly 2nd level NPCs with a few 1st, 3rd and 4th level thrown in for variety as it seems to fit. So what would people like to see in a list of NPCs? I have a couple of days off from work right now so I have time to come up with a lot.
 
Cool. I use Microsoft Excel that way I can quickly sort out by class, race, location, home nation, LvL, home kingdom, etc. I have columns for everything- hair, eyes, skin, languages known, Ht., Wt., combat stats, skills/feats of note, you name it.

I also use Excel to organize locations (both kingdoms, towns, ruins, etc.) and PC info to boot.
 
I use an excel spreadsheet to help make my PCs/NPCs and then print out stat blocks on 4"x6' index cards for use at the table. I'd like to see the NPCs posted in statblock form. Much easier to use all around I think. I think creating a thread and posting generic NPCs is a great idea. I will certainly contribute what I can...

First of these stats include a few house rules : all weapons that dealt 2d10 now deal 2d8, all weapons that dealt 2d8 now deal 2d6 and war spears can be used as 1-handed martial weapons.

Secondly these stats reflect my views and opinions derived mostly from the main rulebook, the free companies book, and a little from the Argos & Zingara, Aquilonia, Shem and Stygia books. Some of the stats are basically copied from those books, others are adaptions that I felt were more in line with the general feel of the soldiers in question. If for any reason you disagree with these stats feel free to modify them to your taste I in no way claim that my ideas presented here are in any way better than what others might come up with.

Finally I would like to remark on a couple of entries. First the
Argossean, Border kingdom, Brythunian, Corinthian, Ophirean or Nemedian knight. I got a little lazy with this one admittedly but I felt these nations tended to represent a knightly with a somewhat less martial bearing than the Aquilonians, and of the course the Zingarans and Poitanians who really seem to represent the most elite of the knightly aristocracy. This is why I gave them only 1 level of soldier as opposed to other Hyborian knights. Admittedly the Argosseans and Nemedians coming from wealthier nations were given plate armor to at least compete on an economic scale (I also almost made Nemedian and Aquilonian Knights the same except for a little blurb in the Aquilonia book about tournaments and how the Nemedian tournaments are much more pargeantry and less militaristic).

The Zamorian Boyars were one of my proudest moments. I figured that the Zamorians must have some form of cavalry to deal with Turanian incursions and so I took a name from the Rus or medieval Ukrainian aristocracy. They are the rural Zamorian aristocracy and have adopted the tactics of the turanians although favoring Zamorian weaponry (Huting bows instead of Hyrkanian bows and shortswords instead of scimitars) and heavier armor. They also generally ride Bhalkana warhorses, those being bred in Zamoria. They are somewhat numerous (the Zamorian king being paranoid and not granting any of them enough land to become a truly effective political player), and are known for their cruelty to serfs and slaves who farm their land and herd their sheep and goats.

On this same note, I made a quick reference card for NPC to use during combat. I put in an area to remind myself of their tactics, combat manuevers, etc.

It is in Excel format and its designed to print onto a standard notebook card (3x5). Some printers can't handle those, but I guess you can print multiples on a piece of paper and cut them out.

I have a long list of NPCs I wrote. The problem is that they are loaded whit my homebrew feats...

At least they don't all have improved initiative, and feel very unique. But again I had to use my own feats to avoid all those improved initiatives...
