Mongoose
I ordered this a few weeks ago and payed with PayPal but received no confirmatory email. The money has been debited. Will the book arrive?

If you have any doubts, drop a line to rveal@mongoosepublishing.com - he will let you know where your book is!

Well I've just been on the phone to you guys and basically got told that, since I didn't take up the megadeal, you cannot guarantee when my copy of Flight from the Dark will be dispatched (if ever) due to supply shortages.

Since my order was placed at the beginning of July, surely, as a reputable publishing house, you should have made absolutely sure that all preorders (no matter megadeal or single-book) would be met?

RD - seriously annoyed at being treated like a second class citizen because he cannot find the funds to pay for the megadeal

I have been lucky enough to recieve my book but I'm not too happy with the binding the left hand pages have got letters clipped on the left hand side and some of the pictures are slightly cropped too at the page edge. The binding is very tight as well. Has anyone else who has the book noticed these issues I'm actually thinking of sending mine back for a replacement. It sounds like it could be some time before I see one though. A quick flick through the book and the content looks great but I'm finding it very difficult to read due to the lack of a left hand margin.

The map is very dark once in the book I hope that this is corrected for Fire On The Water. The lower parts are almost impossible to distinguish.

Does anyone who has the book have the same issues or have I got a bad one?

A somewhat concerned WW.

There were far more orders than expected. However, we will be getting the last of them out by the end of this week.

There was no binding margin allowance? Hmmm. Not good. Those of us in the US won't be able to as easily return a defective one like that. Another person I've spoken to said the binding might crack or be affected if the book is opened too much.

Sounds like a softbound carcass (glued edges instead of sewn ones) inside a hardcover casing again, like the RPG.... I do hope this is not the case....

Will the book lay open by itself of does it close up if you take your hands off?

My copy does spring shut if you take your hands off of it. I really want the books so I will put up with that particular defect but it makes it hard work to use as a gamebook.

Actually, Mongoose prioritizing shipping to the Megadeal customers should not only be expected, but applauded, considering the hefty sum they have shelled out for the books.

I don't think it's a question of prioritisation but fulfilment. If a book was pre ordered a month before release you would expect it to have been taken account of and dispatched whether it was part of the mega deal or not. I'm willing to cut Mongoose some slack as this is their first foray into this kind of publishing (I hope), but if people don't raise these issues of quality and supply problems will not get fixed and in the longer term it will do the line no good at all.

You got that too? It's almost as if, the further into the book I go, the further towards the left the writing goes (to the point of it heading off the edge of the pages during the last quarter of the book) whilst the right hand margin grows wider and wider.

Nothing bad with the cover or anything else, it's just that while it's normaly only half a letter sometimes it's a whole letter and ine one place it's even the first two letters.

Same here. I'm just working out how best to word a polite email explaining my reason for returning it.

Well, I don't know if Megadeal buyers have been prioritized since nothing has appeared on my doorstep here in Germany yet... :-(

I received my copy a couple of days ago (London) and am very happy with it. Although the book closes up if I take my hands off it and I am having to be careful how far I do open the book, I am overjoyed with my copy.

My copy is perfect in every regard in that it does not have any of the other problems listed here, eg margin. I can only hope for you all that its only a small batch affected.
