New tactics for an Evo world

I FIGURED that was the case. And this was what I meant when I mentioned the superiority of the MI's equipment - namely, that the aggregate stats and special rules would, in the end, result in a very different game, working with the same basic rule-framework.

INdeed. A good example is this;

In BF Evo, troops hug cover as if their lives depend on it (they do!). Get caught in the open by a machine gun, and you can lose an entire squad.

In SST Evo, the MI have Exosuits and power armour - you can bounce into the middle of a street, let loose with a missile or hail of bullets, and have a reasonable chance of getting away with it. You would _never_ do that in BF Evo.

Close combat is also more common in SST Evo, even when bugs are not around. It is a very rare event in BF Evo (though everyone should feel free to rib Fordy about my PLA Ninjas when he asked for a rematch to our battle report!).

misread your first line, thought you'd gone a bit yoda :)

funny you should say that my PLA in out last game were described as a nijas as the enemy kept missing them with shooting as they charged forward to take out the command squad in combat.

ps they failed to make it, but there def my ninjas now :D

I like the fact that a man strapped to two massive snoblower engines still makes the effort to wear camo.

I suppose it will help him hide after he's shot down :)

well, the concept is a rapid deployment/reonnisance thing....

And stealth? How on earth do you make a stealth helicopter?

Find some way to quieten the horrible roaring noise it makes?

you use anti sound waves, ive seen and been at tests for this you can reduce the sound emmited froma lynx by what they recon 80% as a person on the ground close to it id say 40-50% but once it was up 80% but as it projected its distance the sound level equaled out gradualy so from a distance the technology doesnt work so well but at 100meters its good, and close up 10 meters id say its of littel effect other than halving the sound level, and it still retains it signature sound.

Going from 2 blade to 4 blade rotors makes a big difference - putting them in certain cross orientations can further reduce the noise.

Contra-rotating blades might give noise reduction too, through elimination of the tail rotor assembly.

What's that in the sky?????

Well I can't hear anything, so nothing to worry about.

Maybe they should play a really loud recording of angry buzzing? Paint the chopper black and yellow and hope the enemy thinks it's a wasp really, really close up.

I just thought of something else that will change quite drastically. In the current edition its quite common to spend a large bulk of an MI forces point cost on heroic traits, but with the rules change most of them seem to be unworkable or obsolete.
Gonna have to find some new way to fill up the points, maybe with the extra air power in the game Fleet Liason will become a little more useful, or perhaps more psychic troopers are the way forward :?

I'd imagine they'd be reworked. Be a real bummer to lose all those cool traits. Hell, I hope we get more.

More would be nice :D, do they have traits in BF:E I wonder?
They definatly add to the cinematic feel of SST and I suppose the really cheesy combos will still be there (Like a LT on a sprite with the two traits that increase the hit/kill raiting :D), so it wont be to major a shake up, if anything it might mean more traits since the really expensive ones like fireking are gone.

As of right now... there are still plenty of cheesy combos :). Some may go, but I know of at least one that Matt seems committed to keeping (though it will be a lot of fun!).
