New Slaine releases

Mongoose
OK guys, new poster here but I've been lurking as a guest for a while. The new RQ edition of Slaine has persuaded me to sign up.
I really like the new RQ, Mongoose have done a great job in producing a simple set of rules that I think will work really well with SLaine. What I was wondering is what supplements they have planned now and what does everybody else want?

Personally I would love to see something on the Norsemen and their Skyblade pirating ways! The small section in Tir Nan Og just wasn't enough for me!
I suppose that Earth and Drune magic will be covered in the actual Slaine book but a good guide on Druids and playing/GMing them would be nice.
Decent adventures are a must and I reckon with the awesome artwork available (Glen Fabry and Simon Bisley rule!) a decent GM's screen should be on the cards.

Here's looking forward to the 18th June! :D

same here and been told their is a adventure in signs due 8) I am hoping for a source book on time travel and other dimensions so them slaine can travel to all the other runequest worlds and then back doing the goddesses business 8)

I would like to see stuff happen for Slaine RuneQuest that was advertised in the current Slaine D20 RPG that never made it to print.

I think most of you all know what I talking about.

There is also some stuff that I have found in the Slaine comic that would need further explanation.

Whether or not the person/people working on Slaine RuneQuest have a inate understanding of the Slaine comic and know the mind of the creator Pat Mills. So, I would be pleased to see everything covered and anything that needs explaining, explained.

Not that I am saying that Ian Sturrock ever failed to do a faithful comic to RPG adaption. Heck, I was very impressed when I first brought the core rules and the main source books. Though I realised that explanations only went so far as the creators knowledge and those other books were needed. If only just to satisfy my curiousity.

i think the problem was so much was promised then not delivered which was not a good way to do things  but do not belive mongoose will ever make that mistake again  but the company was very young when slaine first came out 8)

Some very talented fan made a very short adaption of 'Slaine the Horned God' and three other shorts as well.

In case you haven't seen this yet.....

I watched this five times already.

It's utterly fantastic and such a tease as I guess the Slaine community on this forum woud find this very inspiring. With the release of RuneQuest Slaine on the horizon too.

I only wish this is a legitimate production, but it's not.

Nice film, some good talent there, I hope Hollywood catches on. Regarding RQ Slaine I think RQ is a much better system for Slaine than d20 (unless you play Savage Worlds then check out my conversion, hint, hint). I'd love to see an Otherworld guide as well as expanded info on the Fomorians and the Drunes.

Had a quick look at that.

While I do like the different set of accompanying art-work and photos. I was alittle dissappointed thats really stuff I have already seen in the D20 books and abridged at that.

I thought you meant our own version of Slaine rules, however those written up in the 'Savage worlds' site are a rules conversion for a different rules system a modification of the current D20 rules.

Incidently, when I first started reading Slaine and considering the limited material I had as source back then. I had proceeded to try and write a Slaine RPG based on the 'Tunnels and Trolls' rules system [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunnels_and_Trolls ] which I had conviently lost or threw away as they were ridiculosy unbalanced, and perhaps not really faithful to the source. I had based alot of the unexplained material on other Celtic resource books. So guess it would'nt have made alot of sence either.

Anyway, does that mean that Slaine D20 is now public domain.

I'm still after a copy of ''Way Of The Horned God'' and '' Ragnarok''. Wud they now be publc domain. Though I would much prefer the books.

On the subject of the new Slaine Runequest game rules. Will there be stats for villians such as Elfric, [This might include a source book for Els nd El worlds.] Balor [A source book for Formorians, and the newer breed.] and other villians like the great Guldig [the strange creature ruler of Cythrons] and a another source book for Cythrons, Orbots, Dilluvials and Cythrawl.

Only a week and few days to go....

I just put my order in for main rule book.

First time I used the online shop too.

I was wondering of any plans/rumors of companion rule books as well?

It did say 10-11th of July, 2007 last night

I can't even link any references to original date when I decided to pre-order it few days before just I did click the checkout button.

As I have started buying stuff like this online again, I have now made it a rule to not ever pre-order. I do tend to get screwed around more that way. Things always goes astray with pre-ordering. Something always goes wrong this way.

Usalley I end having to re-order what was pre-ordered.

So I would be happy if I didn't have to do that this time around.

Not reall sad baout this.

Just alittle wary, that Mongoose have deicded to do this when I decide to order. I just hope it's it more to do with improving the book's content.

Standing-Stone,
You're right it did say July. Last night I started reading a Celtic Mythology book I had been saving to get me in the mood for the release of RQ Slaine. The plan was to read the Mythology book and I would be close to finishing to finished in time for the arrival of my Slaine book. I had also started to formulate the campaign I wanted to run. Oh well that's on hold.

Sorry to hear about your luck with preorders.
