New Fleet Boxes?

Hey there.

I am just now getting the resources to invest in this lovely looking hobby. I used to be a fan of B5: Wars, but never able to afford anything.

Anyway, I was reading something a wee while about, with the new edition coming out, that Mongoose was making new fleet boxes that would all be of a certain Fleet Value. Does anyone else know anything about this, or am I pulling it out of... ah, thin air?

What I'm most looking for is the costs, and (possible) release dates, so that I can plan for making one fel-swoop and maybe save a little on postage (/me wants some Earthers and some Vree)

Apparantly it has been hinted that all the fleet boxes will be the equivilant of a 5 point battle level fleet, except for vorlons and shadows, which will be = to a five point war level fleet. We have not recieved official confirmation of that though.

I dunno how the ISA box is going to work! Either no Victory, or very few White Stars left...

No Victory is quite likely, with all the new ships that have been released for the ISA (an Armageddon ship or two in a fleet box has always been a little over the top, hasn´t it?)

I'd go with a carrier, a few WS's, and some bluestars and WS fighters.
but then I don't make up the box.

for the narn as much as I love the G'Quan, I think 2 is enough for the fleet box
hmm, 2 G'Quan, 2 Var'Nic, 3 Ka'Toks, a Scout, and 2 thentus.
quite a nasty fleet.

I spoke to Matt the other day and he pretty much confirmed the 5 point fleet boxes idea.
Great idea in my opinion.
Ideally for me an EA fleet box would be:
1 Omega
1 Marathon
2 Hyperions (Raid level)
4 Chonos
and a few Hermes & Myrmidons

Cosidering that they will be priced around £50 then that's a lot of ships for not much outlay.

thats would be Crusade EA then I would consider an apollo instead of the marathon, but I don't like the new marathon stats at all.

2 Olympus, Oracle
some hermes and fighters

a Primus, a Liati (new sculpt if pos but hey)
Balvarian Carrier
some Vorchans / Demos
a Maximus and Corvan
Kutai and few Havens

course I have all those already but it makes a nasty but flexible fleet list.............

Shadows - well such a variety of ship models to choose from - oh wait no..............just the two models then - still it does mean quite a bit of flexibility in your fleet!?

Could go with Gunship and reasonable number of WS's plus the other bits - then again they may put in the new Ranger frigate?

Minbari box would also be hard to fit into 5 Battle.
1 Sharlin, 2 Tinashi, 2 Tigara and 3/4 Torotha (depending how splits work)? A pretty light box compared to the current one.

Drazi on the other hand, would be great... can never have too many Strikehawks :lol:

yeah, I think some different prices for different boxes might be needed!
some fleets fit a 5 battle point easier than others!
and just which breakdown does one use to get 5 battle points!!;-)

Their was a carrier design on planet mongoose, it "may" make an appearance at the open day.
the Drakh box was one of thebext available in terms of ships (the look of the ships i'm not considering!)
but making it a battle box, then you will probably see it with scouts, patrol cruisers, a couple of fast destroyers, and maybe a carrier with 4 raiders.
