New Bases and New Hyperions!

Hi guys,

I wanted to drop in here and let you know before we tell the rest of the world.

We have just posted some new items for A Call to Arms on our front page.

First up are the new Hyperions - the standard (though all new!) model, and the Command, Assault and Missile variants. All are completely redesigned, and have a much firmer mounting point that you will find so much easier to work with.

Speaking of bases, we have also posted up ball-jointed bases. These were designed partly for CTA, but also for a new space combat game we are hoping to bring you in 2009 (and that is all I will say on that matter!).

The cool thing about these bases are that the ball joints a) allow you to accidentally knock a model on the table and not have the stand snap, b) pose ships at exciting angles and c) best of all, allow you to unplug the ships and lay them flat for storage and transport. Truly a revolution for CTA games!

You can see all of these on the front page.

Well you said later this week, and were true to your word so I salute you for that! Order placed for some Hyperions!

I'd have got some of the new bases too, but I've already invested in Ninja Magic adaptors now, so I'll continue to use those.

Regards,

Dave

Huh!? :?

They look great from what I can tell, the bases are fantastic (if long overdue) and now that you bring these out you're getting out of miniatures!?

New Hyperions... New Bases...

If we order the Hyperions, do we get ball stands or the old ones? And they're not part of the end of line discount sale are they?

The bases look nice but how strong are they? They are still made out of plastic tho. I still like the metal flight stands with pins. Now the new Hyperions look good. I will need to order them.

The new Hyperions look very smart. I might have to get a couple, just in case. ;)

However the flying bases look like the existing GW ball-and-socket bases. Are they the same ones?

Im confused, I know these where in the pipeline but assumed they would be shelved due to the worst news I've heard this year.

The absolute gutting thing about this is that they are ALL really nice.

The new hyperions are very groovy looking like all the little extras you guys have done to them makes me wanna do a earth fleet now typcial me

Matt, does the standard Hyperion have the dish that juts out of the top of the tower? The pic doesn't show one.

Thanks,
Patrick

If those bases are anything like the GW ball and socket flight bases, they need to be replaced after a while. I've got some of my Eldar tanks mounted on them and the friction joint wears out after about of a year of regular use. On big heavy models, the ship will end up constantly pointing at the sky. On smaller ships it probably won't be a problem.

So these are the new Hyperions. I'm not impressed to say the truth, and 16 $ per ship doesn't help either.

I think I have to look out for some of the old models.
