My Fleets

A few pics of my painted fleets (FA scale). I still have a number of unpainted ships for these fleets, as well as unpainted or partially painted Abbai, Brakiri, Cascor, Drazi, Pak'ma'ra, and Vree (plus a fully painted AoG-style Gaim fleet, and an ISA fleet that didn't want its pic to be not-blurry). Also, no pics of the fighter stands, completed or not...

Centauri Fleet (largest at 120+ ships):

EA (hard to see the Crusade-era hulls against the mat, but they're in the back, along with a Tantalus conversion):

Hyach (oops, these don't exist... pretend you didn't see them!):

too bad they're neither ACTA nor B5W ships...

I don't care for the larger models for gaming (though some of them make nice display pieces). They tend to get in the way of each other when the action gets close.

And, for the record, they are BOTH B5W and ACTA ships, since they are legally valid models for tournament play in either game. Learn to live with it.

makes me with i had gone with fleet action instead of ACTA...I like the smaller scale & the amount you can fit on the board without it looking too jumbled. Nice fleets

Still learning the new camera (old one was stolen from my office), so a couple more:

ISA (with Brigade Models' Amrep New Jersey BC as Victory class, three almost-finished Nolo'tar sculpts, and a LotR Valen, made from an EA Oracle hull and some plasticard. If my LGS could actually get non-fleet box minis in, I'd have some WS carriers, gunship, and Blue Star conversions in the fleet):

Drazi (sorry for the blur):

AoG-style Gaim (with a few FT minis filling in for one of the cruiser types; included just to annoy those that deride AoG's games):

:D

We can't speak about an armada anymore ... it's an invasion ;)

It's a lot of work
Bravo ! it's very impressive.

cool painting, like the vorlons and centauri most.

and thats the reason i switched to FA-Scale, too...

you can have
1) a large Fleet of a chose race
2) all fleets from the show :D

and it
1) don't cost a furtune
mostly imprtant
2) remains storable

I'm right now painting all my stuff up

That's a bloody awful lot of ships.... :P

And seriously dude, please tell me you didnt ever try to FIELD all those ships in a B5Wars game? (cos if you did I suspect your probably just about finished turn 1 by now if you starting playing when it was first published :P)

I think the largest game I ever played with them would be a Centauri vs. EA game of Fleet Action, with roughly 50 ships per side. IIRC, it was about 15,000 points per side and took 4 players about 7 hours to get to the "foregone conclusion" point, with Centauri coming out on top. With that many ships on the table, things tend to go 'pop' rather quickly. :P

I just like to have lots of options when fielding my fleets.

Most of them were purchased and painted when they first became available ('00 through '02), with a lot of the League fleets being purchased during the AoG closing sale. I'm just now getting around to finishing building/painting the remaining ships from that purchase (I painted the Dilgar fleet in its entirety lplus detailing on the Drazi last weekend, and have the Brakiri base-coated right now).

They don't take up much storage space - the Narn, Centauri, Minbari, EA, Shadows, and Vorlons all fit into two GW figure cases (with an Army Transport foam tray for the Crusade-era EA ships). Each of the other fleets (and all the fighters) fit into one or two (in the case of the Dilgar) foam trays. Consequently, all of my B5 fleets (some 700 ships, plus a scad of fighter bases) fit on one shelf in my gaming closet.

Thanks for all the comments, guys (and gal). If anyone ever makes it to my neck of the woods, I'm up for a game using multiple fleets - if you have a couple of days to finish, that is.
