Multiple tasks?

Annatar Giftbringer

Emperor Mongoose
Greetings,
When does the penalty for doing multiple tasks simultaneously kick in? Piloting a spacecraft and firing weapons is mentioned as an example. Presumably spending a minor action to control a vehicle while using a major action to fire a weapon also counts?

How about walking and shooting (minor: walk 6m major: fire weapon) ?

A drone brain-equipped vehicle would benefit from autopilot due to this rule as well, right?

When you actually roll two tasks in the same time slot?

On the other hand many tasks require concentration and precision. Doing anything but staying still and concentrating would make it more difficult. Referee judgement seems called for.
Shooting while walking is more difficult?
Shooting while running is much more difficult?

"For every extra thing the Traveller is doing, the level of difficulty for each task is made one level harder. So, an Easy task becomes Routine, while a Very Difficult task becomes Formidable."

You can do a lot of tasks but it gets real stinko real fast. That's why they say having a full ship crew is sensible.

It's only for actions that take full time and are simultaneous.

Moving and shooting do not trigger it.

Spending minor to control and major to attack does not trigger it. If you do some maneuver with the vehicle, while shooting, will trigger it.

Piloting a spacecraft and shooting with the turret does.

I am not sure about fighter pilots, though. They do pilot and attack at the same time, but they don't have a choice, mostly.

Fire and forget missiles.

You can also have software that locks on a target, and while you're being jiggy with it, the turret keeps moving so that that the laser keeps pointing at the centre of that mass.
