Well, that is a wonderful composition. A really lovely piece of artwork.

As ever, I have quibbles :lol: I would have loved Elric to have been somewhat more aquiline, with the slenderness of jaw that that implies, and a little less muscular in the arms.

He should be a rangy bastard, basically.

But to return to my earlier point: excellent painting. The composition is absolutely spot on.

Agreed, I've always imagined him on the skinny/emaciated side. Still the cover looks rather lovely. A big improvment over some of the more recent covers.

C Quilliams did almost all of the Conan covers and I am pretty sure it helped a lot to boost sales.

Now when Runequest also have some cover from Kieran Yanner, you should appreciate it too. :wink:

Only negative thing about it is; he looks a far too human, far too much muscle, not really the frail Elric from the novel who needs drugs to maintain his strength.

Well drawn though.

I have not been visiting these forums in a long while, and when I do, the first I see is this. Is Mongoose going to publish an Elric RPG? have they got the rights from Chaosium? and if so, how close will it be systemwise to the already existing Elric!/Stormbringer 5th edition system available from Chaosium?

This is coming out of my ass, but Im guessing that it'll be based on Runequest specifically, with little to no similarity to Stormbringer5.

Then again, the naval rules we have are almost identical to the ones in SB5's "sailing on the seas of fate" so who knows...

Hm. I wonder if the Magic Rules in Elric will be a varient of Sorcery not unlike Lankhmar's Black magic rules.

It's a shame 5th edition is a pretty cool game, the system is pretty lean and mean.
In two minds over this release, but best not prejudge, as they say best wait and see.
After all Lankhmar was pretty cool, but it only had to be compared with the old TSR suppliments for AD&D.

Stormbringer 5 is, IMO, the best fantasy system on the market. But I'll be buying this one as well, since I want more books to come out, and I like to have lots of options for Runequest stuff

I hope that Monngoose RQ Version of elric will be a cool game.
But i also hope that this will only be a sub-license, so that when Mongoose is done with their three-book-release for Elric (Elric, Melnibone or Young Kingdoms sourcebook, and adventure booklet) Chaosium Inc. will be able to continue their Stormbringer 5th edition line.
There was space for a Elric D20 game, so there is plenty enaugh space for two D100 systems (Chaosium Inc.´s Stormbringer AND Mongoose RQ Elric).
