Mongoose books via UK bookstores ?

Banded Mongoose
I've just had a very strange conversation with my local Borders store about Traveller - Mercenary.

I've got some Borders gift vouchers to use up - so I thought I'd try and get them to order it in (the only RPG stuff they carry as standard is the D&D core books, but I thought it was worth a try) They found the book on their ordering system no problem as I gave them the ISBN - but apparently in order to sell me a copy they'd have to order it from their US operation and ship it to the UK, which they could give no time estimate on and were obviously not very keen to do.

Maybe something to raise with your UK Distributors?

Our distributor does supply to Borders UK - however, individual buyers in book shops are difficult to reach in one blast. If you drop me a line at msprange@mongoosepublishing.com with the details of your local store, we'll have a chat with them and see what we can do to help!

Gotta assume that we Cambridge guys use the same Waterstones and Borders as each other. :D

In my experience, Borders has a very random selection and Waterstones has a dedicated but limited rpg section. Forbidden Planet has a wider selection but expensive.

At last we have a proper Game Store in Cambridge but it also has limited game lines and is hard to get to.

It would be very handy to have Borders able to order in stuff for the use of gift vouchers etc.

Now that we have ISC as a local store I try and use them when possible.

Sadly for them my main purchasing habit was D&D, but I'm not going 4e so the only things I now buy regularly are Pathfinder products - and they're all on subscription from Paizo, and occasional older releases such as Dark Sun and Al-Qadim via eBay.

Other than that, Traveller is the only currrent game line I'm actively supporting, and I normally shop at ISC for these releases - in this case I just want to get some use out of the Borders vouchers if possible, and found it absolutely amazing when they claimed that the book would have to come from teh USA.

ISC is easy for me, its just up the road from my rugby club (well 10mins walk) so if I cannot park closer I can dive in there - though as a tip, Luard Road is pretty good at the weekend :)

They currently have my Mercenary copy behind the counter - so hands off ;)

Forbidden Planet I was in last week and over the last year I have noticed that while they have a lot of books their RPG section is, well heavy on the 'one or two really old supplements that have been her years' stock.

Well except for anyone working at Addenbrookes, they have too large an Medecins Sans Frontiers contingent to use the Borders in town.

Oh and if you can get out to it there is a decent store in St Neots (well Eynesbury) called Gamers, who certainly used to stock a fair amount of Mongoose product - I havent been out there for a while since ISC opened.

I try and use ISC whenever possible - they are quite local for me, and helpful, and will order stuff in quite happily if tehy don't have it in stock.

Since the Bristol Travelling Man closed I'm building up a to get list for the next Mongoose Open Day, FP just aren't up to snuff in RPG stocking.

The problem for many UK booksellers is the Esdevium Games have a minimum order requirement so we cannot just order one or two books at a time.
