Modules for the Modular Cutter

What are the dimensions for the modular cutter modules? They seem to be 7.5m wide by 18 meters long by 3 meters high. Is this accurate? It does mesh with it being a 30-ton module, but I always envisioned them as round, but now I think that they are flat.

I am currently mapping out a base built with 30-ton modules.

All the illustrations have shown them to be tubular designs. GURPS Modular Cutter had them as bi-level to better represent their tubular build. But that also skewed the size since dtons don't translate well along those lines.

So for illustrative purposes they are flat like any other deckplan, but visually they can be described as cylindrical.

Yeah, if they were bi-level they would make more sense being tubular, but that would make them 60-ton Modules according to their deckplans.

Yeah, the description and illustrations were pretty much at odds with the deckplans.

I like the GURPS modular cutter book but it greatly increases the size to the description.

The assumption being that whatever is chosen, it's standard across the Imperium.

And consider that modular cutters aren't the only ones that carry them.

This does not compute:

By the picture it's a cylinder 18 m long, that is approx. 6 m diameter.
By the deck plan it's a box, 18 m × 7.5 m × 3 m, as you say.
Use what you want... The box is easier for deck plans, and to use in general.

50 Dt small craft are supposed to be Imperial standard, and use the same hangars. Look at the Heavy Fighter and Troop Transport for comparison.

Interestingly, the deckplan of the Mercenary Cruiser show the Modular Cutter wells as being DIA 6m 🤔

You have to remember that in accordance to the current edition, modules are interior features.

So it's possible, their configuration doesn't follow the exterior hull's.

How much does the Hull cost for the Modules? 25KCr/ton or 50KCr/ton? They are listed as Streamlined. Interior parts of the ship are generally not Streamlined. lol

The frame of an interior module is kCr 25 per Dt.
The designer of the Cutter has made the choice of multiplying with the streamlining modifier, presumably because the module is conformal to the streamlined hull.
30 Dt × kCr 25 × 1.2 = kCr 900 = MCr 0.9.

If you want the module to be spaceworthy on its own, I guess you need a regular hull?

A lot of the original deck plans didn't really take the three dimensional space into account properly. I feel that the space modelling to make spaceship models by 2nd Dynasty in their Small Craft campaign makes for better gameplay, imho. (Yes, the basis is T5 and not Mongoose 2nd Edition, but they are far closer to the ball park here.)

I would think that the modules are going to be more flat on the bottom to allow it to be placed on the ground and not roll over and allow easier loading and unloading of cargo/vehicle/critters, and more rounded on top to allow power cables and fuel to be run through the top part for ease of maintenance when on the ground or in a hanger/docking bay. In earlier editions the small craft looked oval with being flatter on top and bottom.
