Mixed Fleets

Most of the Imperial fleet will be ex Hawkwood ships

Yeah, but the Emporer's basically a Hawkwood retread as well! So I think most of the Imperial fleet would stay the same.

I wasn't really saying that I'd like a 'house special' for every house and every ship in the game - just thought it might be interesting to have a few different variations on some of the standard ship classes - and, again, nothing compulsory - just to add something a bit different, lol!

Ah! I misunderstood, I see where you were coming from now. Consequently the Emperor is indeed a Hawkwood weeny, but he does have a Decados Consort, which tells me he can't be all bad.

However back to the main subject, what do you think about the idea of tailoring the admirals abilities from 2ed ACTA to each faction so each has a unique fleet style regardless of exactly how many other ships from various fleets are added? Then mixed fleets would retain the feel of there parent House.

The Hawkwood Cruiser and Dreadnaught are actually Imperial Ships in Noble Armada 2nd Edition. They are also used by Hawkwood, which is nice.

For a basic game mixing fleets in my opinion would take away from the feel of the fleets. Though if you want to use a different fleets ship in the game, man up and capture it like a true Noble.

A unique admirals are a good idea. Points costs would probably make them easier to balance.

For mixed fleets, it might be simply a case of allowing one ship with a % increase in the points cost.

Yes, I'm very excited about the new point system. Its going to be a great deal more accurate and easier not only to balance fleets but also to add modifications such as special crew, Leaders, Refits, and various marine upgrade to a fleet. As to having an increased point cost for a ship from a different fleet, its defiantly a thought. Frankly until I can get my copy of the rulebook, or the PDF file, its really hard to say exactly what I feel the best course of action is. Everything I have been considering so far has mostly been based off the old 2nd Edition.

At the moment the only "mods" are the 2 different Troop types Elite Marines and Marauders.

See what the new suppliment will bring.

At the moment, there is a section on campaign refits, as in ACTA B5, but if things follow a similiar course to that game, we can probably look forward to unique fleet admirals and other stuff. Having a points value makes it easier to add other upgrades in the fleet lists as well.
