Miniatures and Temporary Army Lists

Found something new trawling through pages looking for more info. on the Panther CLV, the German army is phasing out the Marder IFV's, replacing them with the Puma http://www.army-technology.com/projects/puma_tracked/.

3 crew, 6 troops and a remote turret with a 30mm cannon that fires an airburst munition. Very nice, all it needs is an attached ATGW in the turret and I may choose a German army for BF: evo.

Thats great Hiro, but apologies if I'm being negative, how does the list of equipment actually fit into existing TO&E's? Only asking as I'm trying to sort out organisations for armies ahead of the rules coming out, so I have an idea of what to buy.

The ones I managed to dig up for the Aussies are (please criticise or modify Chiwie!);

2/14th Light Horse regt. (Queensland Mounted Infantry) - cavalry troop

4 x ASLAV-25
2 x ASLAV-PC + scout section (4 men, 2 x Steyr, 1 x M249 SAW, 1 x Steyr + G/L).

Infantry Motorised Rifle platoon

1 x ADI Bushmaster + command section (3-5 men, Steyr rifles)
3 x ADI Bushmaster + rifle section (7 men, 2 x M249 SAW, 2 x Steyr + G/L, 3 x Steyr).
- Each platoon may be equipped with 1 x 84mm Carl Gustav launcher and/or 1 x Javelin ATGW.
- Each section may be equipped with 2 x LAW.

Well, the trick is that I don't have access to orders of battle nor access to the organization of the units. Basically, as I get more information, I'll make sure to update the lists.

Top find Rick! :) I've been hunting around for detailed TOE and OBAT stuff but I’ve yet to turn up good results, ill chat to one of my mates about the mechanized platoon stuff! Most of the info i have is for the Infantry (where my mates are :P )

Infantry platoon

(Note -I'm guessing that the AICW will replace the F88s with GL 8) and the F88A4 is adopted for use)

Platoon HQ-
Lieutenant, Sergeant and a Signalmen with F88A4

3x Rifle Sections

Corporal - F88A4
Lance Corporal - F88A4
2x Riflemen with AICW
2x Riflemen with F89 Minimi
4x Riflemen F88A4

+may add CG or Jav

I'm not to sure how the Carl Gustav/Javelin (i know there out there thou :P ) fits in, i know that it would be issued to two men (shooter and assistant) but i don’t know if these men are added to the platoon or taken from it

The information I managed to find (it's not easy with the Aussies), suggested that the org was changing to a more modular structure, see earlier post, with 1 bn trying it out now, the rest of the army restructuring by about 2012 if it works.

I think the CG and Javelin are being operated side-by-side, possibly phasing out the LAW's, with every Mechanised section having them, but the motorised rifles platoons getting only 1 per platoon. I think they may be organic to the unit, with the O/C determining whether they take them and use 'em, or just use their Steyr's, depending on the threat level.

Light Infantry have a Direct Fire Support Weapons squad at company level, with either 2 x CG/Javelin teams, or 2 x GPMG teams, again depending on the mission/threat level.

Kristovich, for a carl gustav check out http://www.minimods.blog.co.uk/
I don't know about ordering from him tho, seems to be UK only, but that's probably easily fixed with a mail:)

Yeah it is, I also saw something that would make perfect Swedish troops, but I'm unsure.

These with a little different paint would be just perfect as Swedes! They even look like 'em!

Now where can I get hold of 'em besides that minimod guy?

Hi Kristovich, not sure where you can get those exact figures from, except from Minimods, however, they look to be Falklands-era British Infantry. Gripping Beast produce the MoFo range, which includes a range of Falklands war British Infantry!

The figures are really very nice, I ordered quite a few to use as UNIT troopers (don't ask), and most of the figures have a choice of separate heads, ranging from berets and wooly hats to 2 slightly different types of steel helmet. To top it all, the heavy weapons are carl gustav's (admittedly a slightly earlier model). Here's the link http://www.grippingbeast.com/shop.php?CatID=46.

If you need more Carl Gustav's, the Assault Group do them in packs of 10.

H Kristovich,

The figures are British 1980's BAOR made by Mongrel Miniatures I have a whole platoon on the shelf above my computer. I am sure Frank will post them out to you wherever you are in the world.

Martin

Try this link; http://www.mongrelminiatures.co.uk/. Let us all know the size of the figures if you order some, please? Looks like some of the Middle Eastern Militia figures are very nice.

The MoFo figures are 25mm ground-eye level (30mm overall from bottom of base to top of beret).

Hi Hiromoon, the Russian military uses 2 types of RPV's, the DR-3, which is used solely by the Russian Air Force for Reconnaissance (photo and/or tv), and the STERKH/Shmel-1, launched from a modified BTR-D and operated by Russian Army units for tv reconnaissance.

Funnily enough, the Chinese PLA have placed an order for the STERKH/Shmel-1 system as well. Guess we could be seeing them over Kreplakistan soon!

Forgot to say, the Russian Military is also developing a Shmel-2 which will be bigger, but probably use the same launch system.
