Miniature fire arcs

I've started painting my miniatures and have one fleet completed, however I'm trying to figure out how to mark the fire arcs of the ships. Is there a template that can be used or do they need to get painted on the bases?
Does anyone have any advise on how to get them painted on the bases or pictures?

alot of us use the old GF9 call to arms template. if you can get hold of one of those then thats perfect.

Take a peice of paper. Fold it into quarters. Open it up, place your stem directly over the cross formed by join of the creases. Paint marks in your base where the creases are.
