Mind Scream

Worth while or not?

I keep thinking about this one from my point of view it doesn't seem overly good or overly bad. You have to get close but then the enemy can try and pin you with the Psi Crew.

Has anyone tried this out? Any shadow players have any comments on it?

true they can pin you, but that doesnt effect the mind scream so you get to remove their crew as they pin. best with actual shadow ships, especially the ancient getting its 2d6 crew damage a turn.

yep.
also think anyone with teep added on board should probably lose it on a 6 or something with mods for shadow ship size

And of course with SM and hyperspace mastery you may be able to move within 6" of lots of ships in a turn 8)

has it been decided if the scream effects the telepaths alone in their little Black Omega fighters ? kinda seems it should?

I would think that Black Omega pilots are high level teeps and so immune.

Of course I play Psi Corps. :) Besides Shadows have their funky new fighter-killer beam.

Immune to the telepathic scream of a centuries-old First One construct? Seems unlikely to me.

which black omegas get to dodge (stupid psychic save - if that busy being a teep they wouldnt get a normal dodge or be any good at dogfighting).

i'm all for psychic scream wiping out black omegas, they have psychic crew after all. however fighters dont have any crew stat and psychic scream doesnt cause hits.

Well in terms of show background, the scream injures no-one.

And those centuries-old First One constructs are quite vulnerable to teeps. Seems likely to me. :)

It seems bizare that the scream kills telepaths (presumably some high level as well) on board a ship - even a Mother ship but a lone telepath (however high level) is immune on a fighter? :)

you could always take away the fighter pilots psychic dodge if within 6" due to being unable to concentrate.
this would allow the shadows to use their new AF to kill them easier

It does a bit, I'll agree.

In game terms it would make it very nasty - you'll remember Psychic Scream has been toned down because the initial version would've had scouts killing ships outright - something that was too good.

And while I'm sure Shadow players would welcome the killing of Black Omegas, remember the Shadow fighters have become better and Shadow ships have gained new anti-fighter capability.

Another fluff arguement you could make, is that the teeps aboard ship are likely the be reaching out with their minds, trying to jam the Shadow ship, while the Black Omega fighter pilot doesn't do that, allowing him to maintain his psychic shields.

but he is reaching out to detect when to use his psychic dodge so better than just dying he loses the psychic dodge as he cant read the shadows.

How did we get to the scream killing crew? I mean we never see anything like this in the show, and it seems really odd to stack the game against a race so badly. Small ships will still be killed fairly easily by proximity alone over a turn or two.

Not saying it doesn't work, haven't played enough (or any) psi corp vs shadow to have an opinion. Just seems pretty nasty to have a field effect that kills rather than causes a temporary condition like the power drain fields.

they both have an effect on each other - every corps ship can pin a shadow vessel so this is a kind of counter. even pinned the shadow can at least do something.

G'kar says and it screamed in the minds of the mind walkers and they where destroyed to there to children. or something like that though it does not say in his book exactly how they died.

Religious texts are too obscure to use as a reliable source. A city being unclean in the eyes of god and being destroyed by fire and brimstone from the sky could just as well mean a volcano erupted nearby.

I like the idea of the Shadow Scream causing a general effect of a negative to CQ, higher against Psychic crews, could add that ships and fighters in the effect are unable to use psychic traits. Raid and Battle: -1, War-Aram: -2, x2 if the ship has a psychic crew?

The crew killing will make it easy for shadow ships to kill smaller ships very quickly. Ancient shadow vessels are just going to need to fly by shadow cloaks, while beaming the crap out of something else in the mean time, to take them out of the game.
