Minbari X)

The ISA Rangers rule makes the Crew Qualities of Nials 5 vs. a Minbari 4. That 1 point better in Dogfighting -- just what the rest of the galaxy needed.

Not!

Replacing Nials with Tishats is free. Effectively you lose 1 AD of shooting power for each fighter but gain +1 to dogfight. Add this to the other +1 from the Morshin they're on, and Tishats are just about the best dogfighters in the game.

How come the vorlon and shadow fighters suck in dogfighting they have fighters but there from what i understand are nothing to worry to much about. it seems the minbari have the better fighters. is there something to worry about vorlon and shadow fighters adn what about the white star fighters teshats are better than them too.

Vorlon fighters benefit from a very powerful gun (probably the best fighter armament in the game). The trick is getting them near enough to the enemy to actually shoot it without them getting shot, e-mined or dogfighted to death - this is usually quite a feat.
Vorlon fighter armament is AP, AF and Beam - the trick to using them is to deploy (and keep) them no more than 1 inch from your ships (sit them on the base, basically), as anyone who attempts to dogfight with them will be subject to a charged energy pulse from the Vorlon ship before they even get a chance to dogfight. Anyone who comes within range of your ship (I'm looking at you, Thunderbolts) should be in range for fire from the Vorlon fighters, which should kill them as they get no dodge.

Shadow fighters benefit from the deployment tube on the Shadow Ship (basically fires them into combat from 30 inches away). They also have quite a tasty gun (DD on fighters is nothing to sniff at).

The Shadow Hunter also has a deployment tube (which has a 30" range, not 3" range! ;) ) but it is very difficult to effectively use Shadow fighters and shooting them off somewhere quick always seems to end in them dying quick (at least for me :()

I tend to use them now to deny and delay far more dangerous fighters (like Nials and WS Fighters) while my Scouts take care of em (or try to). Double Damage on fighters is nice but only 2AD and generally, unlike Vorlons, fighters are DEFINITELY a weak point for Shadows compared with some other races.

WS fighters are a bit of a mixed bag - they lack the beam and antifighter trait, but gain double damage and precise. They also dogfight better and fly waaay faster than vorlons. But 'cost' alot more (twice as much when bought seperately, many times as much in a WS Carrier).

They also have the enviable ability to enter through jump points and act normally, so you could in theory buy a number of them at skirmish, keep them in hyperspace and fly them through the jump point opened up by a Whitestar, behind enemy lines. It's a bit annoying that you can't do this with Vorlon fighters, since they do it in the show, and they need the ability far more than the very fast very dodgy WS fighter does.

The question remains, how do Vorlon fighters get around? Very slowly an in ten thousand pieces blown on solar wind are the usual answers...

yeah I think from what i have been reading they need to redo the vorlon and shadow fighters a bit for old races your are limited in your tactics some do to the stuff they seem to be lacking. So minbari flyers are bought seperately huh. and there not deployed from a ship do they have hypersapce capablity or what. and there good anti fighters huh.

Minbo fighters can be bought separately (but are exorbitantly expensive) you get piles of them in Morshins and Sharlins, and a few on the Tigara and its variants.

Shadow and Vorlon fighters can be bought separately quite cheaply (and now shadow hunters and ships come with some onboard for free) Vorlons don't get fighters onboard their ships, they must be bought seperately.

Unless it's a Vorlon observation post.

Vorlons do ge onboard flights for free, it's just that only the Obs post has onboard flights

Well in a normal game in terms of FAP I guess that's true...but in a campaign they still cost 10RR (double normal patrol costs) for some reason! (Personally I think only ships should cost double for the self-repair trait).
