Preview would be nice. At least an overview of the ships in there. I have to deliberatly order the stuff and the last few publications have been "Schroedinger his cat" (Robots was DOA, Cybernetics was OK)

See now if you'd had this in on Saturday at the tourney I'd have been much happier

So would they, I imagine.
I once had the regional manager for an auto parts chain explain to me that the difference between opening a new store before vs after a 3 day weekend was close to $100,000 per day in do-it-yourself sales. Conventions and Tournaments must be a similar sales booster for RPG publishers.

According to some shop owners here in germany the conventions, even the "big ones" like FeenCon (> 1000 visitors) are not that big a cashmaker any more. Between online orders and the gamers getting older (and more mobile) the conventions pay themselves. 10-20 years ago with a younger player group conventions where the place for those away from a big shop to "stock up" on games.

I remember going to Spiel in Essen, Nordcon or FeenCon with 4 guys using a "weekend ticket" (1) just to "buy stuff" that was not availabel in rural Westfalia, driving up to 500km one way. Today the guys have cars of their own and the big "group travels" are no more

(1) Weekend tickets where restricted to slow, short range trains and EXTREMLY cheap (5 guys, 35 marks). Result: Trains stuffed like the "refugee trains" during WWII. People literally unable to move so full was the wagon

Yeah, I don't buy much at conventions any more, I am too in debt to do so, so I wait until I can get it discounted elsewhere, or don't buy it at all unless I actually need it for a game I am actively running.

Heck, I don't even go to nearly as many conventions as I would like to. Even relatively local ones.

I've always wanted to get a group of gamers together to hit a con, but now days people claim poverty or they don't want to share a room or they will go but not in their car or...

Ahh for the good old days.

Funny, "lack of money" was the main reason for those "group travels". 35 Marks was a lot of money for a student, 7 marks was easier to stomach (After all the convention costs some money as well)

Not sharing a room OTOH I can understand. I am snoring. No, let me rephrase that: I am sounding like a crazy Woodcutter and his chainsaw running amol AND I am almost impossible to wake up. On one occassion the physically carried me out of the gym we used for sleeping. And I come in well above 100kg...

Um.. 250 lbs here (220 is 100 kg) snore (use a CPAP breathing machine) etc.. But I've been deployed for weeks at a time and lived in a tent with 9 other people so how much worse can the snoring be? *wink*

According to my collegues I sound like a cross-breed between Chewie and Darth Vader. I also use a CPAP these days but did not back then. And unlike many people that at least temporary stop snoring if shaken etc. I once ended up with a cracked rib due to my deep sleep. Granted, the guy kicking me did it in good intent (The tent was burning) but it took a few tries (shaking, hitting, kicking) to get me awake so "shake to stop" does NOT work.

Assuming a person in the most beautiful part of the world (Westfalia) orders this book today through Mongoose. When would it arrive?

Maybe we should room together in the party wing of some con, see if we can drown out the loud parties!!

Okay, let's find a convention in Greenland or Island, that should be half the way between Germany and the USA 8)

Bonnie good idea's mates, as long as the beer is dark, the pub-maidens are lovely, the darts flow in fun and contest... and no THEMES like "Ladies Third Tuesday" or "Hollywood Disco Night".!

Now one needs to name a con in GB 4th quarter of this year or sometime next year and we are good to go. I'll have dug out my von Manstein so Travel planing should be easy thanks to the excellent maps :)

Is this available now in the States? I keep getting told it's on pre-order status still from my local gaming shops. Maybe I need to go search on amazon etc..

Thx,

Subzero001

Mine arrived in Germany today send by Airmail, ordered it directly from Mongoose on the 11th. So if in doubt, order there.
