MavenCon - ACTA Tournament Debut!!!

works out that I can't even do the fly by on my way to florida (companion wants to get to Disney World for the weekend... I tried to tell her the rides at the convention would be more fun but...).

Question on the hard and fast short rounds... does this work for fleets like the Abbai who don't have much raw damage potential?

On the tourney fleet restrictions, was a Battle level hull chosen specifically or would any ship of Battle or higher have served the same purpose?

I keep hearing things like that, and - since I play Abbai quite often - I don't see it. My Abbair frequently rip ships apart with a zillion twin-linked dice, critting beams and stifling Comms Disruptors. To answer your question, I don't think it hurts them any more than it does other fleets, it just means that the Abbai player cannot be afraid to jump in or use the planet for some speed!

Battle or higher. At the test tourney we saw everyone use Battles, but I have a feeling we'll see a War or two this Saturday.

The Narn are opting to bring a War level flagship instead of the battle level????

Since I am also bringing my aquaNarn, I will be interested in seeing how closely our fleet choices match up.

good to know, our experience with the Abbai and smaller drazi ships is that they go to the turn limit, where as most other races the game is effectively over by turn 4 or 5 at the latest. Not that you don't see the occasional great moment out of a bimith when it has four patrol hulls giving all its arcs a shot, just not the norm. Hard to beat down a 50+ damage ship even with 10 to 14 twl dice a turn.

If anyone would like to meet up with four guys from Chicago Friday night and have a few beers perhaps a game PM me

After careful consideration of the weather, I will not be attending the tourny tomorrow. With 6-12 inches of snow predicted along our driving path, that is just too much of a bad risk to take.

I hope to see you all at Gencon or Origins.

Good luck and drive safe everyone.

Well, looks like I will not be able to make it. Louisville is already getting pounded and I would have to drive through it.

I'm bummed.

So how good is Indiana about keeping the interstates clear? (specifically I-70). And could someone in Indy post the driving conditions sometime friday night to let those of us still on the fence get an idea?

One of my buddies called me from Louisville and said they were getting pounded already and it wasn't going to get any better, I am so sick of this weather, someone needs to shoot that groundhog.

I got the gun just give me the bullets

I would risk it by myself but the wife was going to come with me. She is a little paranoid about the weather having been caught once in a white out for two days in a truck stop.

If this was moving more north than north east it would not be as much of a problem. But it is hitting all along 70 and I have to drive through it twice. Weather channel is calling for a foot of snow in some place through Sunday morning.

I hate to miss this in the worst way!! I have been painting for two weeks to get ready.

Ok that is one of the funniest things I have ever watched!!!!! But I think this would work!!!

BTW, these are called Dum-Dum bullets and were invented about 100 years ago. They were outlawed by the Geneva Convention because they would not kill a human but would cause horrible wounds.

Four of us from Omaha, NE just got here about an hour ago. The roads still seem to be fine now. I really hope that more of you are going to be here, it would suck that we drove all this way just to play against ourselves like we do at home.

Stupid question: but what time zone is Indianapolis in? If I remember correctly it is on EST since it is not daylight savings time--right?
