The latest rumor that I heard is that Games Workshop is in negotiations to take over miniature production for this line. Their experience with Battlefleet Gothic was one of the prime reasons they were chosen. There will be a slight increase in prices, however.

Okay, that's a joke.

Hope not. GW is the last place I would go....

Take cover all you like. It's hard to duck an asteroid hurled from a Mass Driver!

Why the the big problem if GW do it ? They do very nice models.

They have their own range of figs to do. Guess who gets put on the back burner when the schedule gets full? Rationally, they could do a fine job. Personally, I'd prefer using a casting company who could use the work. Just my choice.

The overall feel I get from GW is that they want everyone to believe that they're the only miniatures gaming company out there, or at least the only really professional one. Whilst their miniatures are of superb quality, they not the sort of competitor I'd feel safe working with.

Ironwind Metals did a fine job when they took over production of the Battletech figures and have since expanded the line. I understand they have a forge not to far from the Mongoose forge in Ohio. It would be nice if they could manufacture the ships for Mongoose.

As for GW, they are not the end all of gaming companies, though they would like you to drink the Kool-Aid and agree with them that they are.

Just a thought.

So there may be light at the end of the tunnel for this dying game system.

I do hope so as it was a great system, sure it had its issues, but it was good as a pick up and play game.

All the issues I'm sure could be resolved, and all being well with some nice miniatures that are all scaled correctly.

You'll never get all the ships scaled correctly, even ignoring the fighters, the Poseidon, Explorer, Victory and Babylon 5 are going to be hard to do in scale with everything else.

Having all the models in scale may well be near impossible to pull off whilst still having usable models, but it would be nice to at least have pseudo-scale models.
What I'm thinking is something along the lines of: If ship A is twice the size of ship B, model A will be 1.5 times the size of model B.
The actual factor use is unimportant (model A could just as easily be 1.25 time the size of mode B). Basically, the main thing is that larger ships have models larger than the models of smaller ships.

well in his talk of 5 and 10 year plans theres no mention of acta apart from how well the end of line sales went :(
