Ok guys, straight from the horses mouth here. We stock a bucketload of B5, we talk with other stores which also carry B5 and everybody has the same issue; no ships...
There are 3 UK suppliers, I have spoken will all 3 of them in person today and all 3 have confirmed that there are still no new ships to be had within the UK, this includes the Gaim, Ka Bintak, G Vrahn, etc, etc.
Regardless of what anybody else says here on this forum I can tell you that all 3 suppliers are being told that a shipment will be heading toward the UK "later this month or early next..." and that they will have a selection of unspecified new releases. Again, all 3 are saying the same thing that they don´t know exactly when this shipment will be dispatched, when it will land or what exactly it contains but that there "is a good chance" that some new stuff is coming.
Hopefully, this means that by around Mid November there will be a large amount of readily available new releases in the UK, it looks like we will be hit enmasse by new releases next month but everybody is very very reluctant to confirm anything at all until they actually have the ships in their hands.

this is the same as I hear from hobby box, cant get anything new which is pretty much anything out this year.

If it helps any, I have a similar issue Stateside. "My distributor doesn't have any." or "They haven't shipped yet." Are the 2 most common replies I get when ordering stuff. I've gotten my stuff from ebay, Bartertown and, closeouts at stores. I had to get my Fleet Lists from Barnes & Noble Booksellers for pete's sake.
If this keeps up I'm going to use counters.
No really, Counters....I wonder if anyone will mind that I've painted over them??? :P

Okay, something fishy. Here's the word from my contact:

This is just in from the only distributor I know carrying BAB5 anymore:

"The waiting time from Mongoose is 4-6 weeks once the order is placed. I’ll find out where (our first) order is…That would put (our other order) in house 4 weeks from now. They are casting as the orders are coming in!"

I am probably going to pull the line for the time being, this is just crazy. They cant even keep the one thing that sells regularly for them in stock. Maybe matt should ... get the company moving properly again.

To quote Thursday Next - there's something rotten here! This is my only local source for CTA models and they're pulling the line because they can't get merchandise. GULP.... When does this make good business sense?

You mean for MGP or the distributor?

Personally i dont understand this contradicting information. Shops saying they cant get stuff, and Matt actually telling us that stuff would get to us within 10 days. (I aint saying Matt is going crazy, just that there might be some asymetrical information status around)

The distributor is still going to try, but my resaler probably will be special order only :x

They all say that it's Mongoose's issue, that we're not getting the truth here, something about a new Jaguar....?

It means either A) someone is lying through their teeth. In the UK thats all three distributors or matt, or alternatively, B) someone somewhere is going crazy and accidentally cast a million Tiny badgers instead of acta ships, and is trying to cover their trail.

I've never known matt lie... i've known him be elusive and skirt around things, but not lie :-) but then it makes no sense for the distributors to lie either, the world has gone mad!

This sounds like a major case of miscommunication, somewhere. Now if only we could figure out where, exactly, the breaks occurs...

It is not only in the UK, there must be either someone in Germany or Matt telling us not exactly the truth.
Either all the distributors are are lieing because the want to kick Mongoose out of the business(very unlikely) or there is another problem with Mongoose which no one wants to tell us.
My theory is that Mongoose was a little to enthusiastic about the success of Battlefield Evo. I don't know how successful it is in UK or US, but in Germany Shops are dumping it out for 10€ a Box.
In Essen someone who should be in the know told me that the Evo line isn't doing that well at all.
That might be a wrong information but at least it is a hint and would explain a few things.

Would that be the badgers that have been released in Iraq, aaah it all starts to make sense. It's a government conspiricy that I having seen the zonn and xill I ordered ages ago.

I don't know officially how sucesful BFevo is, but I saw a convention doing buy one get two free! that sounded like someone dumoing stock. it's a shame, as I am informed by a chap who's a damn fine gamer that the rules are excelent. I'll save my comment on the mini's!

Yeah well thats the problem with MGP.

They make excellent rules, one of the best in the bussiness, dont know if there are any that are better. But they kinda fail in the model departement (*cough* armageddon *cough*). Even that other company has been increasing quality of models.

(and possibly the Valen) beforehand, but the two big 'uns will follow quickly after.

3 Questions: Which Valen, Legend or TLT? If TLT: Minbari, ISA, both? And will it be unique?

and to repeat as we never got an answer, why is a ship being worked on that doesnt even have rules yet when we are still waiting over a year for ships to be released that do have rules?
surely the priority should be to get models released for everything thats supposed to be out before working on new ships?

Personally I'm hoping for:

1) TLT

2) Minbari AND ISA (see below though)

3) Unique for ISA not for Minbari

And just to reiterate: THIS IS WHAT IM HOPING FOR, I DONT HAVE ANY ACTUAL INFO ABOUT THESE SO DONT TAKE THIS AS ANY KIND OF ANSWER TO THE QUESTIONS!!! I'd still like to know myself :P

I'd suspect from hints dropped at the tourney about the 'campaign day/weekend' being based loosely on TLTs future scenario that 1) is right. Also most people I know have at least found TLT 'ok' even if not spectacular whereas most B5 fans I know occasionally wake screaming in a cold sweat in the small hours of the morning when a lingering memory of LoTR creeps into their mind ;) Also when alls said and done the TLT Valen just LOOKS cool, the LoTR one is, well, a brick. But I'd still like to see it made as well frankly. Then again we already have the Nolotar/Liandra from LoTR so who knows....

as for 2) my reasoning is that well, Sheridan is flying in one but then the ISA and Minbar are basically the same thing in the show at that point in time it seems. Or at least it seems that at least where sheridan and delenn are concerned the Minbari will give them whatever ships they want. But at the same time its clearly a VERY Minbari looking design and I really think it should be part of that fleet....

As for 3) well again I see it as basically the same as how the Victory/Excalibur is currently with ISA and Crusade EA. Its a new Minbari ship design but they give one to the ISA direcrly. Of course the ISA could theoretically take more as allies but Id guess only in a high points game (I'd guess a Valen class should be at least Battle, probably War if its as 'advanced' as is supposed...)

I'd also be interested to see what if any rule would be used for 'quantum space' drives? Perhaps it gets to open a jump point in the deployement phase? Or perhaps it might always be allowed to jump in? Hard to model really since 'faster hyperspace travel' isnt really something that ACTA takes into account (perhaps a bonus to campaign turn initiative rolls?)

About the whole reseller thing: I would love to include CTA in my little online shop here in germany, and I do have the occasional order from our local games club.

The problem is that orders take forever to arrive, which I can explain to guys I´ve known for years from the club, but which doesn´t quite work for online customers.

It also makes it hard to stock up on anything, because I can never be quite sure when, and which part of, any given orders arrive from the distributor.

I can´t say anything about BFE, because I´ve never seen any interest for it in my customers (normally there would be at least some people asking about it), so I never got any stock - looks like that had been the right decision after all... (although I think that a SST evolution would do much better)

Thank you! :D I´ve been busy with some personal stuff lately, so I couldn´t quite find the time for CTA, the forum or the Llort...

Speaking of which, I have resumed work on them, drafted some first ship stats and reworked the background section a lIttle (again). I think I will be able to post an alpha version at the end of next week (without any fancy layout yet, I´m afraid). As soon as I have a playable version of them, I will start converting the ships, which will take some more time (and money).

But they are not forgotten! :)
