Maintenance Costs vs. Life Support on Ship Sheets

Since the rules have changed in regards to calculating the fixed costs of Life Support (a now Cr1,000 flat fee per stateroom), shouldn't that cost be added to the maintenance costs displayed on the ship sheet? While it's being classified as "life support", it's NOT dependent upon occupancy. Therefore it's a fixed monthly cost. If the purpose of the maintenance costs on the ship sheets is to understand at a glance how much you pay per month regardless of usage, then those two totals should be combined.

I think the logic is you pay the CR.1000 per stateroom per month whether or not there are passengers whereas the higher rates to a stateroom are only if a particular stateroom is actually occupied. If the stat on the sheet listed the full cost per stateroom when they aren't all occupied, there would be a false accounting.

Notice also not all ship sheets list weapon or even turrets. Some things need separate book keeping.

That's correct, you pay the costs (Cr1,000 per stateroom) every month, period. You just pay extra if you have a person(s) in it, to the tune of Cr1,000 per person, per month. So the base Cr1,000 would be treated like maintenance costs - should be paid every month, but if you don't then there may be consequences. Which is why I mentioned it being a fixed cost that might as well be added to the monthly maintenance cost on the shipsheet.

Yes, I noticed that. Ship sheets should have all kinds of places to annotate various DM's. But neither of those issues goes back to the root idea of making the fixed operational cost of a starship take into account all of the fixed costs (for maintenance at least).

Damn, so tired from 4 days of shoveling snow. Miscalculated and thought the stateroom maintenance was included. Yes, that should be included and not the per person costs.
