Lone Wolf: Stand By. . .

Yep, inconsistency happens a lot, even when it is the same translator for all Joe Dever's book! For instance, in French. Giaks are called Gloks in the early books, just to become Giaks later. Of course no explanation is given and for quite some time, I thought Giak where but a stronger breed of Gloks. The same goes for Helghasts, first “monstres d'Enfer” (ghast has no translation in French) and countless others. Add to this nostalgia and bad original translations (Talestria does not sound French at all), and doing a correct translation is a tough job. Especially when you are proofreading Google-translated stuff where meaning had been reversed (Eruans come from the Darklands :-) or completely broken up (Ghatan has resources in suffering, not sulphur :-) in the process.

Oh well…

ITK, back to proofreading, for the fifth time.

It's been a whole day and there's no announcement to be found yet.

I know I said I was going to be waiting patiently.
OK, it has been an entire day...please, there has to be something new! So I just wanted to ask, is there anything new?

don't think there is any inconsistency at all in the italian translation..
I think it were just different choices with some though behind it.. in the same wai the Kai Monk in Italy are "Cavalieri Ramas" (Ramas Knight)..

and make me shiver if you are translating using automatic translators like google and then proofread it :?

It's very hard for me not to make a "well, we've been waiting two whole days without a single post!?!?!" post right now. Especially after all the "calm down and be patient" comments I was giving people a while back over making a fuss about the SST Evo announcement :) It kinda helped a bit knowing what the SST Evo announcement was going to be. In this case I don't have a clue though... so the proverbial boot is on the other foot.

The biggest announcement I could think of would be that LW 2.0 (using RuneQuest rules) is on the horizon, but that wouldn't make sense with the core book just having been reprinted. I can only hope such a thing comes to pass in the future (although given the imminent RQ Hyborian Adventures book, a RQ Magnamund sourcebook could make sense...)

The next biggest thing would be a nice thick LW campaign/background book/box (or a series of smaller ones). But that doesn't seem to mesh with Matthew having to put a signature on anything (AFAIK Mongoose already have the rights to do them)... unless it was a specific outside author being brought in to do them.

A new LW adventure wouldn't be enough to warrant a "big" announcement, IMO.

Otherwise I'm absolutely clueless.

I think that this thread over at Tower of the Sun will tell you what Matt hasn't yet:

Wait a minute! This was posted in the TOTS forums by Shadowcrow, a member of Tower of the Sun, who went to Lucca Comics and Games in Italy and met Joe Dever:

"The conclusion of the Lone Wolf Saga": The work for the 4 conclusive books of the Lone wolf saga will begin probably next year. Joe once and for all confirmed the presence of Grey Star in them (a man in the public asked him about this and he stared at him, surprised, and said "How did you know that?" ) but before of that we will see a complete re-publishing of the previous gamebooks with revised text and story. including a more active Banedon (there will be also a little series of gamebooks about him, like the adventure in the Magnamund Companion). Joe is also searching for artwork designer for this new gamebooks since he want to renew the graphics and put more images in this new books (40 images per book are his intentions).

3:"The future of the Lone Wof RPG": As for the gamebooks Joe said the Mongoose will reprint the RPG books with a better artwork (he admitted he didn't like the one of the current books) and that there are two more manuals in project, one about Sommerund and the other about the Stornlands.

Did I understand this correctly? The four unwritten gamebooks getting... PUBLISHED!?!?

EDIT: HA! Thomas was faster than me...

To sum things up for us this means what exactly:

The series of original gamebooks will be reprinted? By Mongoose?

There is a PC game in the works, with more to follow and

There are at least two new sourcebooks for the Mongoose LoneWolf RPG on the horizon?

Is that the gist or did I get something wrong?

This would have to be considered great news indeed...

The most important part of the announcement is that the final four unpublished Lone Wolf books will be completed, this is the holy grail for lone wolf fans - the answer to teh question as to what happens to LW.

I know how that man knew about Grey Star.. 2 years ago at the launch of the RPG in Lucca JD already sais that in the last saga it was supposed to be present GreyStar

Hmm, the one about Sommerlund sounds familar...and also written ;) - it is also in Mongoose's paws ;)

Not as if you are above product placement, eh? Maybe you need to include it in your WW story...

A Kai Lord Grey Wolf approaches the village, he is unsure of how to proceed, this area of Sommerland is unfamiliar to him, as he grew up in a small coastal town outside of Toran. Forunately for him, he had his copy of the Sommerland Guide (TM), and quickly referenced it. Now, confident in his knowledge that the village posed no threat, he proceeded.

Just a thought,
Al

*Enters the thread* *LooksAround*

Is there any anouncement yet? No?

*Silently leaves the thread again*

I guess in a time that will see a Genesis reunion tour, we can expect that we will have the anouncement regarding Lone Wolf as well

As someone once said: Faith manages :D

Thank you Matt for making us bouncing this way!
But... I'm going to hurt myself jumping and dansing all around!!!! :P

Any news? :?: :?: :?:

Official news or unofficial news? Unofficialy, we think we know what it is (well, it could be any of 4 or 5 bits of good news that Joe Dever announced recently :)).

Official news of course!

I'm tired of rumours (and jumping... I broke my legs on a Kalte Firesphere that was lost on the floor), I would like FACTS :!:

Well the reason it's not official yet is that The Mong haven't posted (probably still restricted by Non Disclosure Agreements or something).

The reason it;s unofficialy official is that Mr Joe Dever himself has already announced it and it's all very good. So we're just waiting to see if The Mong are going to post anything he's already told us about or even more Lone Wolf goodness :).
