Wow, great news!
Especially about the rpg; it was already apparent that mongoose, like many other companies had stepped down or begun stepping down from d20 due to impending rumops of dnd 4.0 coming out late next year.
First, I have to say I the d20 version was and IS fantastic!, not only that but the rulebook is an instant classic, and will always remain so as one of the most complete rpg's published. I only wished that, once the supplements are taken into account, the much vaunted might of magnamund had seen light of day.
But that aside, I am very glad mongoose is going with a homebrew system designed ground up to mesh with the gamebooks. d20 did that well, but minor issues like armor making people harder to hit, hp bloat (though not near as bad as dnd due to high damage output many classes have); the lack of danger traps posed, lack of danger iconic monsters like helghasts posed at higher levels, etc etc really needed to be resovled.
Hopefully now they can be, in addition to providing a system that screams sword and sorcery rather that high fantasy. Plus, this time they can add in the vakeros battlemage and shianti sorceror into the
rulebook, so people can finally stop moaning they are overpowered.
Also, I hope mongoose can rehire August Hahn to work on this, at least in some capacity, since he really did a great job with d20.
Anyhow, the future seems great for Mongoose, Lone Wolf, Grey Star and Banedon, and looks like 2007-2008 is going to be a heck of a time to be a Lone Wolf fan.
