Light Armoured Landrovers for the Brits

Here we go a revised set of stats from the comments this afternoon - not sure on the points costs.

what do you guys think of the revisions?

I like them both, personally I would keep the target score at 6, these things are very tough (about as easy as it is to take down a helicopter or plane) to kill with rifles when on the move, yes that amazingly lucky shot can do it... but so rarely that as a game mechanic its not worth considering.

Looking at the pic provided of the TOW (support) version it doesn't look to me that it has any transport capability.... So I would suggest dropping that, and instead maybe allow the TOW to create a seperate firezone... The TOW is there to take out armour, whilst the MG is there to protect the vehicle whilst the TOW is doing its thang... Also if these things are restricted to "elite" forces then this also reflects the greater skill and training these guys have.

As for points score... they should be free to EFTF  or seriously 60 and 80 sounds fine.

Just one comment about availability, yes they are currently available to everyone in the British forces, but there is a move away from this, they are going to be replaced with APCs in the near future, as our goverement doesn't want to be seen to be risking our guys in unarmoured vehicles. I am sure the special forces will be keeping them due to their greater versatility and speed.

Not Paras, AIRMOBILE. Heliborne Infantry. Mainly cos you can sling the landys into and under the chinooks. British Infantry Battalions generally have 4 companies, 3 Infantry companies and a Support company, the Airmobile Support companies have loads of landy's, used for weapons carriers (Milan or Javelin) and Recon (MG's).

1 Mobile A/T Platoon PHQ – 1x Landrover with platoon command.
5 sections 2x Landrover(MILAN).

1 Recce Platoon PHQ – 1x Landrover with platoon command.
1x Landrover with recce section.
2x Landrover(mg).
2 Recce Sections 1x Landrover with recce section/command.
1x Landrover(mg).
2x Landrover(MILAN).

Panthers are coming into armoured units as a replacement recce vehicle, similiar to the older ferret.

I would class para's as special forces.... I just don't think these are going to be available to general infantry in the near to mid future, nevermind longer term.

Which means I doubt we will get a version mounting Javalins... hmmm what do the SAS (and other special forces) do about anti air? I would imagine they just ignore it more than likely...

They have the landy's at the moment, it just remains to be seen if the Army still think there is a role for a fast-moving, lightly armed, unarmoured airmobile/light infantry force in the future. If they do, then they will get the equipment. Just don't confuse the landrover that the SAS use with these ones. The SAS have a long history (going back to WW2 in the desert) of piling whatever they can find onto a landy/jeep equivalent.

Sorry not had much time work on this in the last week or so (bloody work course stuff :x ) but i should have some time at the end of the week.
