Layering Armour

Looking again for clarification.

Are there any rules for layering armour (ie: chainmail with a linen cuirass)?

Thanks again.

Chapter 4, equipment, in Armour section:

"For comfort, and as part of its protection, all armour is considered lined or padded."

and

"If a character is wearing multiple pieces of armour on a location, only the highest Armour Point score is used"

So basically, every chainmail already includes padding, which probably gives one of its total armour points. And you cannot stack them anymore by standard rules. In theory one could put linen armour on TOP of his chainmail, but I don't think that would be practical.

Layering of armor offers no additional protection if playing by the book. If you *want* it to, you can house rule it. But, I will say that in my games I have found the ratio of damage amount to armor value to be pretty balanced. Also keep in mind that added armor pts will lead to added AP penalty, thus 8pts of armor on all locations leads to a whopping -12 armor penalty. Your SR could be a single numeral regularly.
You might want to run a few mock battles at approx skill and equip levels and see how play goes.
