Judge Force Equipment Prices

I see it stated in the 2.0 rules that there are no prices for the Justice Department Equipoment in order to make them relate to the models being used. Even so, how can we compare the values of of a Justice Department force to that of their enemies in a campaign without knowing the credit cost? And how can we upgrade our heroes to the equipment if we don't know how much it will cost us to do so?

While I'm on the Justice Department, take a look at the street judge and the psi-judge. With the current 2.0 ruleset, the only difference is that the psi-judge gets a psi score of 4. So why ever take a street judge? Even if you don't intend to use psi, it's usefulness may become more apparent in the fullness of time when you see what you are up against in a campaign, so you should always go with psi-judge over street judge. I'm assuming that perhaps a difference in equipment options will make the difference in future revisions.

This is all being folded into the cost of the judge or his upgrades, as the equipment of judges will be far more rigid in choice than for other forces.

Good point on the Psi-Judge - they could probably use some restrictions on other Talents, and maybe a cost boost.

So a street judge is just stuck with standard issue armor for now, with no chance of getting promoted to get that shiny new holocaust suit? At least in this phase of the playtesting? I'm asking this because I hope to start up a campaign this weekend with a few friends and am kind of feeling like I should avoid the justice department because they can't go shopping between matches the way things stand, other than to buy a bike.

That is correct - a Holocaust Judge will be a seperate purchase (and likely only available in 'reinforcements' at that, as he is a little too special). We _may_ do some more equipment additions such as the Lawrod and Widowmaker but, in general, Judges will never have a huge choice in equipment - that is their downside!

You just save up for more guys, I guess - given that Judges are expensive you probably don't want to be spending money that quickly, anyway.

The bigger problem is probably their Due Process rules of engagement - when up against any opponent with a better than 15" range, they risk getting gunned down without being allowed to respond. Against a force with lots of heroes, it's even worse - you essentially hand the first shot to the enemy, which can be a fairly terminal experience with automatic weaponry and light armour.
