You guys are missing the fact that the Molecular Pulsars, are longer range than the beam weapon. In War Without End, when they are racing to get into range of the Shadows bomb on B4, the first weapon they fire is not the beam.

You could just chalk that up to the animation team as well. *shrug* While I agree, what is shown on screen doesn't always match.

They can get a better firing spread with the pulsars, better chance of hitting something than with one beam salvo?
Better chance of hitting a large, slow-moving target? So much for the Rangers +1 CQ bonus!

No matter what target you're firing at, a better weapons spread gives you a better chance of a hit.

I mean, no matter how good your hand eye coordination, you're more likely to paint a target with a floodlight than a pencil torch.

Not exactly an accurate statement in a time when GPS smart bombs are delivering payloads within meters of a target when dropped from several thousand feet.

Lets not mention weapons that can penetrate levels of a building or bunker in order to detonate on a specific floor.

So if a big bomb is about to destroy the timeline... you have one long range weapon that you could fire and one shorter range weapon which would proably be a bit more accurate (though the computer could easily hit with both...), what you gonna do? Waste a few more seconds getting into range, risking millions of lives, the entire future of your species... or fire the big long range beam?

DUH.

No need to carry on with the ridiculous defence of the on-screen inconsistency.

You assuming I'm defending it, fair enough.

I just like to present the other side of the arguement sometimes.

I mean C'mon, the White Star travels at the speed of plot, obviously the weapons are powered by plot as well

Not quite, let me be clear, myy defending it is ony a side effect of taking the other side of the arguement, I'm not taking the other side of the argument because Iwant to defend it.

Cause and effect flips both ways.

I apologise I've had a crappy weak dealing with admin and bureaucrats and it's spilling over into my evenings.
