Yes, but it is far from extensive. Last time I was in I think he only had 4 different books.

No, I don't try to talk him into stocking it, because every time I have he has responded with, "It doesn't sell well enough to fully stock, but I'll be happy to special order it for you."

Since I live an hour away my "special order" is done by me, from places I get discounts. Then it gets delivered to my door. His special order requires me to do a two hour round trip.

I live in one of the largest metro areas in the US and there is no "FLGS" worthy of the title within a reasonable drive. None of the book chain stores carry it near me. In fact, the chain stores don't even fully stock D&D 4.X

FLGS? What's that? :(

I've seen D&D 4e and Warhammer, and the occasional short-lived movie tie-in in book chains, but that's about it.

My great little FLGS has it on their shelves:

Ship it! Games

The front half of the store is shipping and parcel service, the back half is gaming. This is where I bought all my Mongoose stuff (Traveller and the RQ core book) except for Beltstrike, which came from Mongoose for free.

Unfortunately, it looks like he may give up the storefront. The past year has been bruising. He may sell the business or go online selling used gaming stuff. *sigh* Unfortunately, I can't support him by myself.

A few shops in the Rhein-Main area do carry it, and my FLGS usually asks me wether I want to have a certain book or not, and they will order it for me.
I have a chance to check the book out before buying and I support my FLGS.
Win/Win :D

You forgot one poll option - I have no idea what a FLGS is. Oh sorry I didnt read the posts that carefully, yes mine does which is just as well because I am no longer buying Mongoose products without checking them out in the flesh first.

There are two FLGSes in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Forbidden Planet and Travelling Man.

All it takes is a relatively brief bus trip.

And I prefer to buy my stuff from Travelling Man because they're more interested in my custom and are friendly.

The one I can regularly get to doesn't, and indeed the owner says that the supplier he uses, which is a small one, doesn't carry any Mongoose product at all. (I don't believe him, as he's said he doesn't like Mongoose products. But I'm not arguing the point.)

There are three others that I can get to if I were to put in the effort; one has in the past stocked MGT but stopped, the second has some but limited and the third has quite an extensive collection. If I had $40 I'd go to #3 and get the Darrians book, but at the moment I'm planning to buy Eclipse Phase.

Yes and they dont have a weird albino woman who stares at you all the time whilst you are walking around down there in the basement.

Hadn't noticed - actually I just dive in to Travelling Man, buy the latest Mg Traveller book(s) and head off elsewhere.

Interesting, before travelling Man moved into the Toon I always went to forbidden Planet, now I've pretty much switched to the Man too.

No for the following and special order only (Atlanta, Georgia):

Titan Games and Comics
http://www.titangamesandcomics.com/
Titan Comics is a little multi-store chain here and they are tiny but very packed out wall-to-wall shops.

Quest
http://www.questcomicshop.com/
Quest serves a little college town in Georgia.

Both are great shops though other than not having any current Traveller. Not to disparage them.

The Compleat Strategist in New York is my FLGS, and not only do they have a good stock of Traveller stuff, they have a standing policy of leaving a message on my answering machine at home whenever they get a new item in - because they know that I will come in and buy it.

They also do mail order; http://www.thecompleatstrategist.com/ for more info.

There are 4 FLGSs in an hour's drive of me. 1 doesn't carry anything but D&D 4E, 1 has the MGT core book and nothing else, 1 has Hammer Slammers and Trouble with Drazi (but no core book or any other books), and the 4th is the one I shop at. Me and a few others buy our MGT books there.

So to answer your question, 3 out of the 4 stores in my area carry Traveller, but only 1 does any regular Traveller business.

Yes, I should point out that I do have to travel an hour and a half to get to my FLGS - but they do have Traveller there, and a few sourcebooks. The main titles there are D&D, Pathfinder and 40KRP. They also have Shadowrun, GURPS, Exalted and a few other titles. WoD is on a clear wind down though, and generally I don't think they sell that many titles beyond the big ones.

Hmm. I think my nearest FLGS which I know carries Mg Traveller is a shade under 1,000km away. Not particularly local, but technically within 3-4 hours door to door, if I catch a flight down from the north...

I have no idea whether my FLGS does sell Mongoose Traveller, I have not
been there for quite a long time.

The shop's selection of roleplaying material kept shrinking for a couple of
years, and in the end you could only get what the local roleplaying clubs
currently used for their games, everything else had to be ordered.

Since this is much easier and faster (and less expensive) to do through
my favourite online shop, I stopped visiting the local FLGS. And my favou-
rite online shop has almost all of the roleplaying stuff in print, even exo-
tics and the independent small press publications - and of course Mongoo-
se Traveller, in English and German.

Last Traveller stuff I got from FP in Newcastle was a couple of Traveller Compendiums that must have been 5-6 years ago. Much prefer Travelling Man these days but FP is good for browsing around the Star Wars figures etc. If you want games though TM is the place to go. Here in York the TM is pretty good for Traveller stuff. We also have a Games Workshop but thats just Warhammer although there are always games going on there - I always feel very old when I go in that shop due to all the kids around. TM should do something similar with a regular RPG on a Saturday.
