Is Mongoose Still Supporting Gangs?

So, only wild speculation? The game either IS or ISN'T, which one? A pretty easy question. There WILL be more stuff to come or there WON'T...can someone from Mongoose please answer this question... :? :(

If I had to guess, I would say they won't give a definate answer. Two reasons:

They may not be sure themselves.

They prefer not to answer because telling you there is and then never cming through would damage company credibility and telling you there isn't might make you jump ship and close their options for later product.

I would have to concur with that - especially with Age of Conan and War Without End (and who knows what else) coming up, announcing something else so soon would leave them under a lot of pressure to live up to their promises. Easier to make the promise once they've gotten some other things out of the way.

And if there's no plans at all, it's never a good idea to say "never"

And even if no more official product never surfaces there are always homebrew rules, underground publications and unofficial modules and expansions. If a game is popular enough it can never die out, despite it's creators best efforts.

I am finishing up my vehicle module tentatively titled "Jimp My Ride" a 24 page booklet that I am gifting to my friends in a box set with a scale car and some plastic weapon sprues to arm them with. It's going to be great.

Can I start the flood of requests to see these rules when they are finished?

I would love to see vehicle rules for GOMC1. Let the 'me toos' commence :-)

:D

Here are a few previews of some of the vehicles in the Demo Kit I made for the rules.

I use these when I run Megacity One games at conventions. I e-mailed last year to be on the GoMC1 Demo team but I never heard anything back. I'm kind of at the stage now where I love the game but am sort of disassociated with the company.

Dont blame the company. Marc Farrimond is very hard to get hold of. I haven't had more than 3 replies ever, and I have sent him about 18 emails. He has a busy life, and I wonder why he is our skymarshal. Hes a good bloke though, I just wish he replied more often.

The company appoints someone to be a sky marshal when they are too busy to perform their duties. The company also insists that you ONLY contact the skymarshal and no one else.

Yet I am not supposed to blame the company?

I'm with you, I spend cash on any and all Gangs and related figs. from Mongoose. Brand loyalty and all that, but latley, as they have stopped supporting Gangs, I find myself looking at models and games from other companies. My understanding is a forum is a place to ask questions and get answers. If no-one wants, or is capable of answering my questions, obviously I'll go elsewhere for my nerdy conversations. :(

It's too bad that this board is full of these sort of messages...guess that's what happens when people sink a lot of time/money into somthing only to find no support. They get moody about there relationship with the company.

And, yes, I'm aware that I can write up my own support for my favorite game, but, I was under the impression that monthly (or quarterly at least...) there would be some kind of free rules as a nod for buying all that stuff.

All in all, this company has shifted focus to the best selling games and left the others by the wayside. But, if that's how you want to opperate I'm sure you'll make a lot of money...just not off me anymore.

Well...

S&P 32 had rules for a new specialist - the robot smasher
S&P 31 had a new scenario and a conversion article
S&P 30,29,27 had new equipment and weapons
S&P 26 had new weapons, rules for the SJS, and a campaign setting

Granted there wasn't anything in S&P 33 and 34 "only" had a battle report.

Fingers crossed for something in S&P 35

'Xactly.

The main problem is ideas, its hard to think of 'ways' to present things in a 'playable' way - KWIM?

I've made a few suppliments. A couple boxed sets for friends. I haven't sent anything to S&S, quite honestly because I sent a few e-mails to demo for them last year when I bought my stuff, every product in the line by the way, and tey never got back to me. I buy their product and I was willing to demo for them and all I wanted was the promised credit for the starter set.

I'm just not interested in doing probono work for a company that is making it just fine, and doesn't seem to want to give back to the fans.

Hiya,

Please bear in mind that the M.I. are a volunteer effort - as far as I'm aware that includes whichever of the Sky Marshals didn't reply to your email. Lots of people have posted that they've not had replies, so most likely they're so overwhelmed with offers that they can only accept so many (and only in the geographical areas they are currently "understaffed" in) and simply don't have the time to reply to all of those they can't. I'm sure no offence was intended by the lack of reply to your email, but I do understand how the feeling you were ignored could annoy you.

Plus S&P does pay for articles it uses, so it really is worth trying a submission and seeing how it goes.

I am currently an inactive member of the MI, but maybe I can at least pass on what I have heard.

As for JD, in a message from the beginning of June, the game was not scrapped. They were waiting for the two new films to come out, and then they were going to start pushing it again. Things that they were considering were new plastic models and possibly concentrating more on the judges than the perps.

In addition to this, there was talk of a Block War game using the SST rules, such as in the article that was in S&P.

As for what the current status of the game is, I honestly can not say as I don't know.

As for the MI, I know that they have been overhauling the program, so perhaps your messages were lost in the shuffle. Please realize that I am not trying to make excuses for them; if you sent them messages expressing an interest in joining the MI, they should have given you some kind of response. I am just trying to let you know what I have seen from the "inside".

On a side note, someone else mentioned "War without End" (B5 ground combat game). Last I had heard, it has been put on hold indefinitely. This decision was made after they showed their intention to publish the game at GAMA 05 and after the S&P article as well. The only new minis games that I am currently aware of them developing are "Victory at Sea" (WWII naval combat based on the ACTA system) and "Age of Conan".

That may be mostly true, but no businesses system can be *entirely* volunteer. Someone has to appoint the Sky Marshalls and if the SKy Marshalls are so swamped then it's the responsibility of the company to apoint more. Their system of ONLY being able to contact a Sky MArshall with any issue, even problems you hae with that very same Sky Marshall is ridiculously flawed. It's nearly as bad as Whiz Kids Judge system. I tried forever to be a Judge. The site says that a group of 11 or more people can be a club, a recognized organization that runs events and gets prize support. Where I was living there were no venues around and we needed this. However Whiz Kids, like Mongoose, refuses to make you a Judge themselves. You have to get another judge to do it. This seems like a major paradox. It's a bad way to do business and it slights the fans when a company refuses to allow contact with it for this sort of thing.

As for being payed for S&P articles, do they have a rate table anywhere?

I don't believe so. You would need to submit an article synopsis and if it's accepted they'll contact you with rates and any other contractual information.

ALso, if MI is entirely volumteer then where do I volunteer for that? I work at home and have enough free time to post on message boards all the time, I could use that more constructively by promoting their product in exchenge for product. They sell more and I save money.

There are official people who read these forums. Perhaps one of the mods could answer this question.

While you wait for an official answer:

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/demoteams/fan.php is the place to sign up. Note that you must be able to demo at a pre-approved retailer so you'll need to check with your local store to see if they have signed up as well (and persuade them to if they have not)

Please ignore the contact information on the main M.I page ( http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/demoteams/index.php ) as it is incorrrect - the person to email in the US is Bryan Borgman (aka Stratos) and not Brian Lasiewski. Both Marc and Bryan post regularly on the board as DreddTimes and Stratos respectively, so you may want to try PMing whichever is appropriate for your region if you want any further info or a more official answer.

Edit: Sorry, just looked to see where you were located, so it is indeed Stratos you need to contact!

Hope that helps!
