Mongoose
For the heck of it my opponant and I ran six games to test something out about the G'Quan and its variant the G'Lan vs a Primus.
No fighters used, no support ships, no special actions. Just combat.
First three games G'Quan vs Primus: G'Quan 0, Primus 3
First of the three was utter anihilation of the G'Quan, the Primus was pretty much unscathed, after the emines were changed out for shipbreakers, it got a little closer, but still the Primus came out on top.
Second three games G'Lan vs Primus: G'Lan 2, Primus 1
Big difference that mag gun makes even though it has only two AD, the triple damage more than makes up for it. In one of those games the G'Quan got absolutely NO boresites on the Primus and still defeated it.
What it came down to was closing right on top of the Primus and using the G'Lan's superior (and by superior I mean SLOWER) speed to constantly stay inside the vessles turning radius and hammer it with the mag gun.
Couple of things I learned from this, the G'Lan is far superior to the G'Quan but in a big game I would take at least one G'Quan for support just for the emines. Another is that fast ships with one turn can seriously be out manuvered by slower ships with one turn when you aren't using the All Stop and All Stop and Pivot SAs. At one point I was jubilant that I had taken a -1 to my speed as I only had to move 2.5" then turn compaired to the Primus' 4" then turn movement. It was a game finisher to be sure...
