insults 3 son of,bride of insults

Yeah no doubt! Hoping to get my Slaine game off the ground soon, however there have been murmurings of another guy running a game of D&D and well it always seems that he likes to loot some of my players. Nothing saying that they cannot play it two games just find that he starts up a game out of the blue.

Runs it for awhile then gets busy with something else and the players do not seem as interested in playing anything for awhile. Then I will get ready to run something and he is not interested in my games but seems to want me in his. I just hate getting involved into a game that goes for a bit and then dies out within months.

I like to set a specific day and we always get together on that day. Easier to plan around and if something comes up that we cannot get together we pick an alternate day or we just wait until the next week.

I agree with you, Daithi. It's easier to get some fidelity when a day is set in stone (more or less), rather than going whenever ready, as too often with the lack of pressure comes delays, longer and longer until the game is dropped.

That happened a lot with my group, I must confess... :(
I will have to find a way to get more commitment from all involved.

It becomes very annoying when you put alot of work into a game and folks don't show up or could careless. But I guess I love it and I love creating events and stories to see how the character progress and build as the story goes on.

But what can ya do?

I find my biggest ally is habit as we meet at the same place same time week in week out so we get the partners permission as in we dont ruin there plans as they know when we play 8)

Being single (the ultimate symptom of the geek syndrom :P ), getting permission to play is not an issue for me. It's just that I have to put more work in my prep time and know the rules better. Call it lack of experience...

My problem is I put waaaaaaaaaaay too much work into my games and then they only last like a session or two gets really annoying. Put lots of effort and work into a game to have your players either abandon your game or go and play someone elses, who does not put the same amount of work into their games.

Not only that but I get annoyed when D&D is the only game most want to play around here. Ya think they would expand their system and game knowledge. I swear I buy games now just to read them. I have shelves full.......

Me too and I've come to realize how absurd this is...
I can't decide what to play between what I bought since 2 years : Feng Shui, Babylon 5, IN/MV, Lone Wolf, Paranoia XP, Marvel RPG. My players are more in the GURPS old school, so we're playing more games in that system... I have to sit down and learn all those rules, though. :?

Yeah I find that I will pick a book up read it and want to run it. Then find no one interested or able to get off of their sweet asses to play. Then find yourself going back and rereading that book and having to get yourself familliar with the rules again and this is usually after your players come back to you after several months to maybe years and now they want to play it.

Don't get my wrong, I love a great dungeon romp as much as the next guy (when I am in the mood for it) but I like to expand my gaming interests and knowledge in as many different systems that appeal to me. But who knows? Such is life and the nature of the Beast.

one of the thing about the older players are they do get set in their ways so you have too catch them young and train them your way yes you will lose some but if the rules are so ingrained it solves alot of problems 8)

Oh I totally agree with ya on that Tooth. Some players are sooo set in their ways they will not even meet half way. Then it is like pulling teeth. But I try to bring in a few new players when I can.

but you can use that for you instead of against and then comments like no you always DM and that is how it is come up  but at least everyone knows were they stand
