Illegible Highlighted text in Default Style

Limpin Legin

Cosmic Mongoose
Hi, when trying to edit a discussion/reply using the Default Style forum mode, any highlighted text and background both turn black, making such highlights illegible. This is different to highlighting non-editable text, which turns to white text on a blue background - which remains legible.

When putting an internet link into a message, when you finish inserting the link, the text you added to that link also appears as a black rectangle. Currently using Firefox 134.0.1 on Ubuntu Linux 34.04.1.

Looking into this (I may have broken it when trying to fix the dark mode). Could one of you grab a screenshot of this please? Just so I can work out what I'm looking into :)

Yes it looks like this, with the word "text" highlighted and <ironically> obscured by the black on black highlight:

Also (not mentioned in the OP), Weblinks are different. If I hover the mouse over the third weblink in Ian's profile I get this white on white. Same for other weblinks in other Forum pages:

Well, that is fixed for the "white on white" weblinks on Forum pages, but not yet fixed the "black on black" highlight in the reply editor box 😞

Should be fixed now? Let me know if not :D
OK, testing this on a slightly newer version of Firefox (134.0.2). Here is a link to you. The illegibility is not the end of the world - after the link is added, the text soon becomes visible again...

Should now be fixed! Let me know if not :) Sorry again for breaking it it must have been when I was figuring out dark mode :D

When I scroll my curser over a title, it disappears, and the small description shows up. Is the vanishing a design choice?

Well, it is now fixed for the "black upon black" highlight in the reply editor box ✔️

BUT

ALSO

noted that is is now "white upon white" on the hyperlinks on the Alerts notifications dropdown list, and ... as well .. the Report, Like, Reply and Similar Threads hyperlinks are now all "white upon white" when the mouse hovers over these.

Why not just make the hyperlinks default red, or another colour altogether that will show up on either background field?

It's white on all the hover text... names, links, links, etc. But not, for instance, if you bring up a box with someone's info and hover over text there... then you get black (or no change) and the underline. Pretty sure I can see the problem in the stylesheet, but that's sure as heck not the right way to fix it, even if I could.

I've fixed it!! (I think)

Unfortunately it goes by style, so one for Normal one for Dark Mode. I think I probably just pressed the wrong thing in Normal mode. Sorry folks!

If there's anything else let me know :)
