...we're losing valuable men here, it's not right!

With the upcoming release of SST Evo, hasn't anybody re-thought their dismay of the game?

Scipio, come back! :x

I'm still here - I'm not going anywhere soon (I've just been a bit too busy to post much lately).
*Seconds that*

Me too, I isn't going anywhere unless I:
1)Die
2)Internet implodes
3)Get grounded
4)Cheese invades canada through the american/canadian border

I myself am not so psyched about the pre-paints, but as long as they release traditional "built and paint" models, I'll be buyin'!

Glad to hear Scipio (not "scorpio") is still around. Why hasn't he posted I wonder? :?:

Yells to All,

Cap'n Rooster, I'm honored that I got to be the subject of a thread!!!

As BuShips said, I am indeed popping in every so often. My cadets want to do SST in our club, so it's a good idea for me to keep my ear to the ground...plus I miss all you guys. If any of my knuckleheads log in, please be nice to them!

As BuShips said, I certainly do hope that SST succeeds! While I have personally abandoned the game and don't have any intention of returning to it, my decision was based on my problems with how things have been handled to date and my lack of faith in how things will go in the future...and was a totally personal decision. I certainly don't fault anyone for staying with SST: that's how it'll succeed! I certainly do wish it well!

And, yes: I am still a HUGE fan of Starship Troopers in general. If nothing else, I can thank MGP for pulling together material from three disparate sources and making a believable whole.

I'm having a ton of fun with FoW (DAK), Warmachine (Khador) and Hordes (Skorne). Now THOSE are some absolutely gorgeous miniatures: I actually find myself looking forward to prepping and painting again, not dreading it. I've even run into a friend from here on the FoW forums!

Taco is doing well, and if she wasn't so involved in attacking her bells right now, I'm sure she'd say "Hiiiiiiiii!" to everybody. (Ding! Ding! Ding! Growl! Growl! Honk! Growl! Honk!) Thankfully, she seems to have gotten bored with "That's my own p*ss!" (I haven't watched Band of Brothers with her in the same room for a good while now...)

Regards.

I've been dead already, its no great shakes.

While the following isn't immediately germane to SST, nevertheless I think it speaks volumes about my concerns with MGP and the direction SST is going.

The pic is from MGP's own news. The comments in red are mine:

What marketing genius put that pic up? If I were still an ACTA player, give me ONE reason why I should purchase that product? I could weight my own bases and forego the pain and frustration of filling and sanding these.

If this was coming from a guy working in his basement, that would be one thing. But this is coming from MGP...the same people that want you to believe that all QC issues are resolved...and that SST v.2 will be cherry.

What is MOST troubling is that MGP put this pic up as a new release. It's almost like noone even looked at it, just put it in the pipeline. It feels like the Skinnie Slaves all over again, and that nothing has really changed.

Regards.

Hey Scip, any tuna where you are?

Hi knuckles!!!!

Just one. Her name is Doris, she's about 60, and she wears too much make-up, smokes too much, and insists on wearing spandex.

What really creeps me out is that she insists on calling me "Honey" in that raspy cigarette voice. She really would be better off pulling nickle slots in Atlantic City with her fins...

I'll give her your addy.

Yells!

Hmm, begining to dread the arrival of my Brain Bug now if that's the best example of an MGP new line product tha could be found for advertising purposes. :(
Loving my new Ripplers though... :)

So who might we be looking for?

Is one obsessed with wolves? 16 yrs old? *Pushes Thy_Wolf away*
 he's a cadet, and wants me to join up too, and I know those questions are dumb as I know for a fact the dude is in BC, just like me :)

See yah :)

Yes that is very obvious...

Doghouse,

WHOOOAAAA BOY do you have a nasty surprise coming. Before that Brain Bug arrives do yourself a favour and get a brand spanking new dremel, a back-up for the dremel, and about 3 buckets worth of your favourite self hardening sculpting compound because the Brain Bug isn't anywhere near AS GOOD AS the base in those picks! Easily the worst metal-no, worst mini I've ever had the misfortune of purchasing (MGP owes me money on that one as far as I'm concerned!)!!!!

So...that still leaves the major obvious pit and crevasse...or is that just a trick of the light?

IMHO, the black is an artifact of the post mold process.

Actually That one big one is definatly from a knife...

I really don't have a whole lot to remark on, other than there does seem to be a crescent-shaped mis-cast on the left side and a nick (or something) on the top. I've seen quite a few of the "raw" metals photos and I've always thought they don't show their good side, as it were. I suppose if MGP displayed their photos primed, some might say "hey, I thought they came primed!", so they'd need a disclaimer (sigh). That's not what Scipio is pointing out however. Like a good grocer, the "perfect" apples go to the front row of the display, and the rest towards the back  . In defence, I'm sure that most are acceptable to purchase, but maybe someone didn't take a photo of the best apple perhaps...

Lol I thought the exact same thing when I saw it.
Washing flat surfaces suprisingly doesnt bring out any more detail... I wonder why it was done... maybe to show how smooth it is?
There's a miscast on the bottom right corner as well (The cresecent). :D
I wonder if this is just an attempt to use up whats left of the pewter?

On the plus side they gotta be better than the plastic ones!

Exactly!

Or maybe someone thought "these are good enough" and that's an example of the lot. (...thinking of Skinny Slaves, Firefries, Brain Bug, Exos, to name just a few. Don't get me started on the ACTA line.)

BuShips, that's my point exactly. What good does it do for MGP to post a pic of obviously defective crap other than to cement the idea that MGP comes out with obviously defective crap?

And like it or not, that idea is definitely out there.

And whatever happened to Victory At Sea??? THAT rule set I would buy...as long as someone else did the minis.

Regards.

Yeah I thought a navel battle game would have been a better idea then yet another WW2 game or another fantasy skirmish set of rules....
I can't think of too many other navel minature games out there these days (And look how popular that pirates thingy is!).
