I am no longer with Mongoose

What I liked most about working with you, Vincent, was the fact that up to then I was the most knowledgeable person I knew when it came to Hyboria. You taught me things about Conan's world I might never otherwise have found out. :)

know I am late to the party but as all have said before you will be missed and hope to see you around now you are not on duty.

regards toots

Got to add my two penneth, even though Ian and I have since had a conversation on the phone.

Ian was the geezer who gave me my break in the industry and taught me much of what I know about Indesign layout. We also had a bloody good laugh at Mongoose, and I have a lot of fond memories of working at the company, taking the p*ss, and being taken the p*ss out of.

The funniest thing for me was moving to a quiet village outside Swindon, and making friends with a guy who used to work alongside PC Barstow when he was a fine upstanding member of the Wiltshire Constabulary.

'You know what we used to call him?' asks my mate.

'No idea,' I reply.

"The Loon",' he says, laughing maniacally

That came as no surprise whatsoever!

The thing I'll miss the most is those Thursday night roleplay sessions, where we could burn and pillage to our heart's content: me with my ruthless methods of interrogation, and you with your bowling ball executions.

I think you know I mean this most sincerely when I say:

Up yours Barstow!

Fordy

It's always a pleasure working with foreign people, which is why I liked working with you so much, Fordy.

We had some fun though, huh?

Truly hope I am not too late to post here. Way back in the long-forgotten days of 2007 I had the insane idea of writing for Mongoose. In particular, I thought I could take a stab at Signs and Portents Wargamer. Finding time in my schedule to scribble notes and finally type out the ideas running through my head, I dutifully submitted the ideas, fully expecting to be told not to bother anymore.
But to my surprise this rather polite gentleman named Ian answered my e-mail saying to go ahead and send in my scenarios. As happy as I was that day, I was even more so to find my name listed in the table of contents for S&PWG 45.
Ian was great, always answering my e-mails., always encouraging more submissions, always just plain great.
I was so inspired by this reception that I have since been in contact with a few other publishers about submitting ideas to them. The results have not been as encouraging as with Ian, but the have been positive and the confidence Ian helped me developed has me working on those new submissions, even though rejection could be waiting.
Thank you, Ian. Many years I sat and played games thinking how cool it would be to be even a small part of the creative process. You showed me it is very cool and it just takes the confidence and determination to take the risk. Riches may not be waiting for me, I think we all know that, but I am willing to take the chance now that I have had some success.
Thank you very much.

Wow, I think this post is longer than anything I have ever written for S&P.

Oh, good lord. I'm deeply sorry to hear that. You were like part of the furniture at Mongoose.

Best of luck in finding new employment.

Hi guys,

I just wanted to let you know that I have been made redundant from Mongoose today so my time as editor and creator of S&P is over. I have been involved in some way with every issue since conception, having taughtmyself magazine publishing in six weeks back in 2003.

Every issue has been a pleasure for me to be involved with, and as there wil be no final editorial from me I would just like to say a few words of thanks to a few people. Firstly my two assistant editors, Matt Sharpe and then Matt Thomason, who contributed hugely, particular once the magazine went into PDF format.

I'd also like to thank all my regular writers, particularly Alan Oliver, who kept me in articles without me ever having to chase for them.

I'll still be reading S&P but as one of you lot from now on.

Oh wow, that's terrible news. Guess I'll be keeping up with you on RGMW from now on.. Best of luck to you!

This must explain why the claw-at-mongoosepub address didn't work when I tried to submit my article about revised equipment.

So ... how do I submit articles to S&P now?

Ah. Odd thing: I tried just that and it got bounced back at me. It was (let me see...) ah yes, a "delivery status notification: failure" item. Perhaps there's an error somewhere between there and here?

*Jame, who's going to try again*
