How many M.I. on a Corvette?

Shouldn't a 'Corvette' be a medium sized patrol vessel? Should be sized smaller than a frigate.

Obviously in space things are different - from what I recall of the SST movie, there were a few different ships (or were they just different colours) crashed at Ticonderoga after the battle for Klendathu, but all looked pretty large. I would've thought that they were all ships of the line, rather than mere corvettes.

Going from the RPG:

The biggest ship available to the Fleet is a Dreadnaught (360 Crew), designation TFD

The second biggest is the Corvette Transport (218 crew), designation TFCT

Then the Frigate (162 crew) or TFF

And finally the Heavy Transport (90+ crew), TFHT

From SST game materials, the Rodger Young (based on the CGI version which is in turn based on the movie version) is designated a Corvette Transport (TFCT), the largest ship in common use to transport M.I. into battle zones.

The game is a mix of book/movie/CGI canons, taking a little from each and mixing together, therefore it's sometimes difficult seeing where the dividing lines are.
I know, but I'm a die-hard book fan :P I mean, when you look at it, the film doesn't really deserve the title... :?

RODGER YOUNG was specified as a patrol corvette, and as i recall, it was also mentioned that this was the most numerous type of FLEET warship that MI were assigned to.

RODGER YOUNG was specified as carrying a full platoon of MI (less batle losess, the sick, those on leave or emergency leave, or some sort of detached duty) while assigned to routine or raider missions.

an officer, senior NCO, asst platoon sergeant, squad leaders, assistant squad leaders and troopers with all of their weaponry, armor, other gear, ammo and drop capsules.

larger MI assault transports were FLEET assets, carrying, company, battalion, and regimental sized units of MI.

RODGER YOUNG in the movie was HUGELY oversized for the class of vessel she was supposed to represent . . .

that said, some modern navys carry platoons and half platoons of marines as part of the crew in frigates or destroyers, backed up by specially assigned officers, petty oficers, and ratings of the ship's landing party.

amphibous assault helicopters carry at least a battalion of marines inboard for normal deployments.

some modern submarines are assigned a team, squad or two suads of SEALS.

in theory, if no marines or SEALS are carried, a ships's landing party is chosen from the officers. petty officers, and ratings assigned to the crew.

The Rodger Young was supposed to be a corvette, carrying 1 platoon - bear in mind though that this was one marauder-armoured platoon, and in the current SST rules, marauder powered armour is one big suit....

very true; the RODGER YOUNG (in the book) was designed as a a patrol corvette, capable of independent operations, and carrying a platoon of MI powered armor troopers (MARAUDER, SCOUT, COMMAND models) which are actually closer to the SST game exo -armors in concept than the SST game MARAUDERS are.

i enjoyed the SST MOVIE for what it was, and i enjoyed the ROUGHNECK CHRONICLES CGI episodes i have seen, too.

i like the MGP SST game, but, i also play with my MGP toys using other rules as well (primarily CR2.0 until 5150 was recently released). todate just the basic powersuits MI and BUGs.
