High SOC. How do I fit it in?

Just a quick update: My player opted for the "Shepherd Book" alternative. Reducing his SOC to 11 and giving him a mysterious background with connections to the Imperial Court.

I just started a Traveller group and one of players created a character with SOC 4 in the beginning but rolled lucky (Navy Rank 5: Captain and 3x +2 SOC on benefits) and ended up with SOC 16.

AFAIK the emperor has SOC 17.

How do I handle such a character and integrate him in the universe?

Honestly? The first thing that occurred to me was Honor Harrington.

I was thinking the same thing. Though she started around Soc 7-9 (solid middle class professionals), IMHO.

I also thought a Sheppard Book solution as well. Someone that more than they seem.

This could add some interesting wrinkle for the GM to use, both good and bad for the players.
