High Guard Small Craft

I think so:

From pg 57:

"Options

Small craft may have any of the Hull options from the list of those
allowed to spacecraft."

I can only assume so. Why?

Just got distracted from a my latest ship in the dock. I was thinking that the various aliens in MGT so far don't have that many unique craft for them and the plans use what are basically imperial ships as small craft...and that lead me to think about TL13-15 Darrian small craft.

Beside the ship in the drydock is Darrian and well I was thinking how about a special small craft for it.

Mind you the M-drive table stops at 6gs... so I figure anything after that is subject to the same bonus ie a 7g grav drive at tl15 gets the same 75%/200% tons/costs as a 6G drive at TL15. I can cope with the hull bonus table, just ignore.?

Feel free to correct me If I got this wrong... still it could mean I can build that TL15 Ludicrous Speed Racer Ship....

Yeah, I'd ignore hull cost drops/structure increases. When you only have 1 point to start with it's not really justifiable.

The thing is, the small craft thrust levels probably need shifting to the left - Small craft have always been able to be faster. Although since the M-drive table tops out at TL9, unless you're doing a primitive smallcraft it probably doesn't matter.

The Small Craft Drive table in HG goes up to 14G. You can see the progression, so if you wanted to go higher for Darrians, you could expand the table pretty easily.

Everything over Thrust 6 doesnt have a comparable TL written on a table though, which is a problem when figuring the TL of a small craft M-Drive.

Top fuel dragsters have achieved close to 8 G from 0-200 mph and 4 G from 200 mph to top speed since TL 6-7. So linking absolute acceleration to TL is silly.

Linking G-compensation to TL makes more sense, but we don't have inertia dampeners, so the TL tables cannot be refering to that.

Just FYI.
Do whatever makes you happy.

That was my point, the table stops at thrust 6 - hence the original point 'do the rules apply' 6 being the fastest spacecraft (ie not a small craft)

I think its reasonable to assume, that the highest bonus is 25% so a TL15 Thrust 8 craft M-Drive engine is 25% lighter and costs double.

You could write a new table to cover the faster engines, but 25% seems reasonable or stopping a 50%... (if you wrote the table)
