High Guard News

On an OnTopic note, I just got my HG at my FLGS* here in the south SF bay, and its one of the ones with theMerc TOC. Are there any other errors ? Other than that it looks very cool, even if they didn't do a strict power point system for ships.

*a store that wonderfully combines knowledge and support for all three areas (and more), and boy is it great to have staff that knows their stuff and where the stuff is in the store.
Game Kastle, Santa Clara, CA. Check it out.

Ya Gotta love a game store that keeps gamers hours.... Till 22:00 every night.

Recieved mine today. The only thing I noted is that the table of contents are for Mercenary. Is this the High Guard with the printing problem?

Hi guys,

Deepest apologies, but this is current printing - we are currently looking into how this happened, but this edition has been released into the wild, as it were, and cannot be recalled.

These are the only issues with it - deck plans, text and rules are all solid. However, as always, we will be happy to swap copies out when the new printing comes in.

Again, apologies, but this should not spoil your enjoyment of the book, and we are already on the case.

Thanks Matt! If this is the only problem, I will keep mine. I don't normally use the TOC that often anyway, I use these books enough to know where I need to go.

Matt - could you please post the correct ToC as a download for those of us with the current edition?

Thanx in advance.

Least I can do;

Introduction - 2
Creating a Navy Character - 4
Spacecraft Options - 41
Small Craft Design - 56
Capital Ship Design - 62
Expanded Space Combat - 73
Small Craft - 87
Capital Ships - 101
Naval Adventures - 145
Index - 152

So Matt, I have 2 questions:

1) When will the new, hopefully fully correct printing be available?

2) If I go into my FLGS and buy one of the 'escaped into the wild' ones will I be able to get a corrected one sent out to me when they do come in?

Cheers

LBH
I like properly correct books, goes with my Rules Lawyer tendencies.

You know, these misprinted books are collector's items to some of us. These being more valueable because of their faults.

50 buck plus shipping you can have mine, once the fixed ones are out.

Yeah, like I said earlier, the misprints will be worth a quid or two more in the future than the corrected prints.

  Mine has just arrived and it's one of the misprinted batch!  *No way* am I sending it back!

Mine is one of the Mis-prints but I am keeping mine. I will place a correction page into the book with the corrections and just live with it. Besides I usually can find what I am looking for quite quickly by flipping through a book anyway. It isn't like these books are that big, or have that much details in them like Oracle hard back that has like 1000 pages or so with small text!!!

I give you an "A" for effort... :D

I would prefer the cash......

But that is my base Freetrader hucksterism coming through.

Here's the reply I got when I emailed Matt:

>>>1) When will the new, hopefully fully correct printing be available?

Likely a month or so.

>>>2) If I go into my FLGS and buy one of the 'escaped into the wild' ones
>>>will I be able to get a corrected one sent out to me when they do come
>>>in?

Of course, we'll swap out any of our books!

I have noticed that in the past year or so that several of the larger RPG companies delay shipping to Amazon (usually about a month) to give FLGSs an opportunity to sell to customers first.

My Amazon preorder of High Guard just shipped (or so teey say). I wonder if mine will be one of the misprinted first run or one of the misprinted second run! :D

Mistakes make RPG books more valuable?

All those Megatraveller collectors must be sitting on a gold mine then :)
