Help creating a monster

I reckon we should do our own one ... kick off with Demons and Devils of Legend. Base templates for their creation, hierarchies, realms and then the fiends themselves.

Although Demons and Devils in Legend should probably be closer to Moorcock's versions than the standard D&D versions. Because of the long association with Stormbringer and Elric, D100 games have been more heavily influenced by Moorcock than most other fantasy RPGs.

It's certainly possible to convert d20 OGC monsters to Legend under the OGL though :)

Sword & Sorcery demons ... Hell yeah! Excuse the terrible pun.

Combined with Cthulhu elder gods and those from The Conan stories as well.

I created a bat demon for my home campaign a while back. It was heavily inspired by Robert E Howard and Clark Ashton Smith. Being summoned from the alien gulfs between the stars, it's main ability was a gaze that blasted the souls of those it looked upon. In combat, the bat demon could glare at a single opponent each round. If the bat demon overcame the target in an opposed Persistence test, the victim stood helpless as their soul shrank before the malign sense of cosmic evil. A couple of summoned bat demons almost destroyed the party...lol

That adventure also had vampire blossoms - a carnivorous plant that released a cloud of pollen with narcotic properties. These were influenced by Clark Ashton Smith, Lin Carter, and Tanith Lee. Victims within a radius equal to the SIZ of the plant in meters had to make Resilience roll against the Potency of the pollen or fall unconscious. Once victims succumb, the blood sucking flowers settled on them and begin to feed. The veins in the flowers flushed red as they fed. The best thing about the vampire blossoms was that they were vulnerable to honest flame, but produced a sound like human screams as they burned.

Good times :)

Merrie England: Age of Chivalry has classical medieval demons, for BRP, but they could be used with Legend very easily.

I think the main thing with the previous MoL II is that Mongoose already had the art for the creatures, so it was just a case of putting the text across into Legend, which they also had.

A brand new one from scratch often requires more work -- since they'd need to get art sorted for it and perhaps even text from scratch as well.
