Hello? weapons sighted or prone position?

Something that strikes me right away from looking at the troops...

What is the deal with the lack of soldiers with weapons sighted?
Only 2 or 3 seem to be aiming their weapons while the rest seem in more relaxed poses. Also I haven't seen any troops in the prone position, believe it or not but standing around in the open is how you get shot, and there isn't always something to use as cover on the field.

Buy a bag of plastic Army men and you'll see what difference it makes when you got a ton of troops with weapons sighted and in different stances, Army men look much more like they are ready for combat rather then this lot.

Mongoose, please think of this before you proceed with more infantry sets, more realistic poses go a long way to adding realism.

thing to keep in mind is all this is NEW and EXSPERIMENTAL so will as things move on change, and adapt to what they learn from the process, i exspect if the game takes of as well as it should in a few years time there maybe a alternative pose box set of minis launched, but this all takes investment and sales, time and mearning how and what can be done with the process they are using.

Well first off, welcome to the forums.

BFE is much more a game than a simulation. It abstracts a lot of things including movement, and the positions a model is in.

Secondly, while for plastic army men those extra poses are great, they usually aren't suitable for wargaming where the position of the model makes a difference in the rules.

A prone model would be invisible behind a barricade, while that's a good thing in real life, it's a bad thing in game if you can't legally shoot an opponent because you can't see any part of the enemy model.

The weapon sighted isn't as much a problem, maybe some casting issues with thin protrusions and the way there's a gap in between the arms. But I think the main reason why there aren't many sighting is that they're still figuring out what they can do with the minis.

Also, when it comes to spliting squads into four man fire teams you'll usually see one guy aiming his rifle while peaking around a corner while everyone else (in the fireteam) stands or crouches behind.

But I have ordered 2 squads for the sole purpose of adding more 'aiming' guys in one fireteam.
