Since these have started showing up on ebay as cheap singles I've found myself wondering...
Does anyone have any comparison pictures between them and SST figs?
Or perhaps someone owns some and is in a position to say?

They can't give those things away around here, but I've seen a few, and for the most part I'm fairly underwhelmed.

My kids love them and I buy them so they can play with them as toys on Heroscape terrain.

I'll probably buy a few more booster packs and the vehicles but have no interest in playing with the current rules.

Here's my opinion on the gaming end of it.

Rules are weak. Unlimited range on all weapons. Same dice roll for a pistol as an automatic weapon or dual weapons. Larger weapons do more damage - if you roll doubles when you hit. You only get three actions per turn, so hordes of small, inexpensive pts. armies won't work.

They do each come with a card that shows all of the stats from the dial. Has a picture of the mini on the same side and special abilities on the reverse side. - I do like these as they make easy reference for building a squad and you can see what's coming up on the stats when you are hit again.

It plays like all of the other click games from WizKids. If you've played any of their other games, you can read through the rules and be playing in about 5 minutes.

Figures are ok, I've gotten 2 that had to be re-glued (out of five boxes w/four figures). They are hard plastic and the weapons are soft, bendy type plastic. I've really not paid enough attention to the paint and detail on the figures to say if they are good or bad.

I had to work on all of the clicky-base dials. Most are off-center and don't line up when they click into place. Also, some are too hard to twist, feels like the figure will snap off of the base before it moves. I opened all of them and cut back the platic that locks them in place. They are now easier to twist and I can line them up centered.

They don't sell well in my area. None of the game or hobby stores in town carry them. I finally found them at one video game store. They have one display and I've bought the only ones they've sold since the game released several weeks ago.

If I get a chance this evening I'll put them next to some figures from SST and other games and compare them.

I can understand being underwhelmed by them, the pics aren't exactly awe inspiring... But being honest, neither are the SST figures, and when you can get them for 50-60p a fig this side of the pond they get pretty tempting :D Couldn't care lessa bout the rules lol... but I do want to pick up some of the maps for roleplay, they seem to go alot cheaper than the Heroclix ones!

Glad to hear they aren't selling well in both your areas as well, that just means they'll be even cheaper when the market implodes in a couple of months :D

I am interested in how nice or bad the grunts and or Ghosts/Banshees would look... if they have them of course.

I designed a very thourough 40K covenant list back in the day, I should do one for SST

now I've gone and started writing stats and such... gosh darnit...

Well my theory for a Covenate army design would be as such:

2 army choice, brute or elite. The elites will have more flexible unit options, but overall not be able to field as many elites as the brutes can field brutes in their army.

Aside from an all Grunt large cannon fodder unit; the basic unit is 7 Grunts, 2 Jackals and 1 Elite/Brute. A special squad of 2 Elites/Brutes and 8 Jackals for Jackal Phalanxes. Annnd a special ops squad with upgrade such as Fuel Rod cannons and cloakers available too.

In addition lone singular units....

Golden Assassins, Jackal Snipers, Brute special: Suicide Grunt... Banshees, Ghosts, Wraiths, and Brutes get access to Spectre's and Choppers.

The Spectre would be very useful as I would let it deploy a Brute Command Squad rapidly...

Oh and Phantoms and Spirit Dropships.

Needler would be a high rate of fire weapon and even have piercing 1, but poor range (12 inches?) 2D6 Piercing 1...

Plasma Pistol would be better range (18-20?) 1D6 Piercing 1, but if Readied first would gain Piercing 3? Or some other useful trait... perhaps Piercing 2 and use a D10...

Plasma Rifles, would be the same range and just be 2D6 piercing 1, and really only be used by Elites (which I would aim for a cost of around 50 points)

I would notably just not have Covenant Drones, as they would clash with bug armies...

Took some pics of the Halo and SST guys together and they turned out so craptastic that I'm not going to post them.

The Spartans/Master Chief's whole head stands above the SST guys. Even the crouching Covenant are as tall as SST. The bad guys standing almost upright are much taller than the SST.

If I can get some better pictures taken I'll post them.

Hunters?

Maybe it should ignore cover

sorry yeah thats a unit option, and of course they must be fielded in pairs.

Personally I would like some rule so that if one hunter dies its partner goes beserker... perhaps staying in an area but killing literally anything going there... guarding the corpse of its dead friend...

my background on them is different; not too different, but the reasoning for pairs is explained as they are a race which bears only twins.

Unit_____Size____Move______CC_____T/K_____A/D/Hits___Cost

Grunt____1________ 4________ N/A______ 4/6______ 6/0/1_____10
Jackal____1________ 6________ 1D6______4/6______ 5/6/1_____20
Elite______2________6________1D10_____5/8______ 3/5/1_____50
Brute____2________ 4________ 2D10_____5/9______ 3/0/2_____50
Hunter___4________ 4________ 2D10+3___9/11_____2/0/4_____150

Weapons_______Range_____Damage__Specials

Needler____________10_______ 2D6+1
Plasma Pistol________18_______1D6______Piercing 1 (Readied=1D10)
Plasma Rifle________ 20_______ 2D6______Piercing 1
Carbine____________24_______1D8______Piercing 2
Beam Rifle _________ 30_______ 1D8______Piercing 2
Brute Spiker________18_______ 2D6______Piercing 1
Brute Shot _________ 18_______ 2D10_____Piercing 1
Plasma Cannon______30_______D10+2____Stream
Fuel Rod Cannon_____48_______D10+2___ Indirect, LZ 3

Okay so that is my extremely preliminary stats... Grunts would get Needlers, Jackals Plasma Pistols, Elites Plasma Rifles, Brutes get Brute Spikers, Butes and Elites and Jackals can all pay a little bit and take Carbines, or Beam Rifles... Brutes can take the Brute shot for a cost... Hunters get Plasma Cannons, and special squads can have grunts take fuel rod cannons...

and of course there is so much more to do, and those 'costs' are just placeholders! So don't nag me about balance just yet lol!

Gauntlet, you're not the only one falling into this trap. I just picked up a booster at the local bookstore because I was curious. That and the price on the singles right now is just too tempting.

Still, I don't think anything other than the hunters should be more than a size 1. Those might be Size 2. Remember, once you hit size 2 and up you're generally looking at vehicles.

BTW, here's a comparison pic for you guys.

The scale for SST and Halo is actually much closer than I thought. Remember that a) the Halo bases are a bit taller and b) MC is supposed to be 7 ft tall. I'm going to try and see if Wal-mart has the Hutner pack, so I can compare the Marines and such. (The trick is going to be getting away with the purchase in my wife's eyes...) Gonna have to be sneaky.

Oh, and as you can see, Halo and BFE is a completely different story...

Yes I thought they would be bigger...

but why tone down the size issue? Its Only a disadvantage if you ask me... IE the Accurate traits... but yeah your right I dont know why i have size 4 on there... should be 3... IE a Marauder me thinks. Suppose I could go smaller...

I think I need to tone that T/Kill on the Hunters, but they only have one weapon, its good, but its not like the damn thing is a chicken Hawk or a Chas Bot with a bazillion weapons and such; I imagine it just wont do too much damage, but it will be extremely annoying to get rid of them.

Perhaps make their beam a Ready weapon too. it ought to be.

Yeah a repaint of the elites could look nice, espcially if you use a super flat base for them to even out their height...

Also I know McFarlane toys is going to be making some halo stuff... wonder if the scale will be anywhere near apropriate... probabblly not...

PS I looked up some preview pics... the Warthog is going to be 3 inches in legnth as well as a Brute Chopper...

those could be quite useable.

If they make Pelican Dropships the right size I will be picking up 5 for various mods, terrain, and of course proxy sling shots.

Finally saw the Halo Clix "in the flesh" today, really REALLY tall and spindly - I wonder whether the people who make Halo insisted on a slightly different scale.

They seem 'flimsier' than Hero Clix models to.

Its a shame, I quite liked the idea.

Flimsier is not a good thing sigh. :?

though I doubt that will be an issue with the vehicles they intend to produce

Picked up a pack of these this weekend. They're actually fairly solid! It's The paint is pretty bad (even for Clix miniatures), but the actual quality of the miniatures is pretty good.

I was kinda disappointed to see that almost all the figures they made are spartans. I expected to tons of marines and odst's, instead of the few there are.
