GW forums closing down, Mongoose live forever!

It will be interesting seeing how GW does versus the younger companies in the next few years.

GW is a company run by Accountants, the likes of Mongoose are companies run by a small group of dedicated gamers.

Iveheardrumours on the inside that there has been a split in the people in control of GW some wish to sell it of as a proffit, others wish to do a period of zero invetment so all money commming in is pure proffit, and then dished out to share holders befor the company is closed down.

what ever happens time will tell, and it wont happen for years i recon.

I'd laugh if they sold everything off except the SG range. After so many years of having the SG range come in second to the three main game systems maybe they are realising that when you're trying to compete against computer games, console games, online games and Magic: The Gathering, you need a fundamentally high-quality product with a dedicated fan base. Even if the potential for mass profit is not so high, there may be more chance of a sustained profit.

Bring back MAN O WAR and SPACE HULK. I say.

I can only wish...

Cheers,

With regard to who mentioned the Specialist games forums,
these games are actually still cool, but Jervis Johnson has not posted on them in over a year.

Yup. Too bad really. He was doing great job with epic but I suppose he was doing TOO good of a job...Afterall there was danger of SG actually growing! (epic sales exceeded expectations by 400% afterall...Guess that activated warning lights to shut down SG ASAP...)

Bleh. If GW would treat their SG department with equal enthusiasm as Mongoose treats their own games I would be lot happier person(though my wallet would be screaming in protest. Good games by bucketload from Mongoose AND SG would be probably bit too much for it  )

Who knows, if GW ever closes down, maybe here would be a good new home for speicialist games.

I certainly wouldn't mind that at all :D

(yea yea. Odds are hardly good. However dreams are free  )

GW has been knobbling itself for many years and shows no sign of changing  if you treat your fans as a cash crop they will move to people who treat them with respect like mongoose 8) the harder the GW giant trys to get a strangle hold on fantasy wargames the more people will slip through their fingers

Might be worth copying and pasting all the extensive rules in the SG section of the GW site onto your hard drive and burn them to disc - I know I have. 8)

Cheers
