Ground and space combat game - like galaxy quest / trek ?

Whats missing from the gaming tabletop world is one game that allows both ground skirmish combat and space battles...

IE/
start with scout ship and small crew, missions to planets for skirmish combat and space combat as well... and with luck build up your crew and hope for a ship upgrade though XP..

Example - a few missions under your belt both ground and space combat, back to spacedock to find out you are not the new owner of a light attack cruiser, with troops etc and goodbye to your little scout ship.

So build up your crew and away team....
Hope for a better ship
Upgrade that ship - like part of the crew..

Nobody has done this, yes to space combat or skirmish, but not too both...?

Have you taken a look at Battlestations? It might fit some of what you want: it's sort of a RPG/board game, with crew running around the ship to control various ship functions, or fight off boarders. (And, of course, boarding the enemy.)
