Well, I've been prepping Bad Moon Rising to run a campaign. Progress has been slow, mostly due to my lack of time/inability to stay awake reading actual RULES of any game/need to read democracy falls at the same time/reading lots of JD comics at the same to revise the setting which I haven't really been looking at since the '80s. Progree may be slow but Bad Moon Rising is going to be a fantastic campaign!!
Anyway, over Xmas I was reading a JD comic and came across a 5 page story which jumped out at me as a brilliant scenario. Our current ref (running another game - when it finishes I'm going to run JD) couldn't come to the session last night so I got the remaining players to roll up some judges and ran the comic book scenario.......By Grud! It worked a dream - the players love the game and can't wait for more.
A brilliant introductory scenario !!!

2000AD and Megazine remain the very best sources of inspiration for Dredd Scenarios...

Why not write-up the intro scenario you've had this success with for Signs and Portents?

That's very pleasing. Well done. What was the Dredd strip?

I ran two Hotdog Runs before Christmas, and the players really went for it, even the two who are not particularly Dreddy. It plays really swiftly.

Can I do that? Who owns copyright to the story?

You don't have to follow the strip word for word, but use it as inspiration. If that's not possible, then understandable...

Clearly it wouldn't be word for word but this one has a very strong, clear and recognisable plot.

The story was called "forever crimes". Top stuff.

Ah, yes. Great little story. Nice depiction of shuggy tables, too!
Yeah, pool tables with hills and valleys :D
Makes an excellent scenario - its a bit linear but for an introductory vignette, that's not a bad thing. Players did go "off beam" (wanted to visit everyone on the list from perp's filing cabinets ) but it wasn't hard to improvise bits and pull 'em back.
