[GK Games] News and Reviews

Hey everyone. I have a bit of news to share with everyone.

1> Ships of Clement Sector 4-6: Traders, Scouts, and Small Craft has returned to print. You can pick up your copy here: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/183474/Ships-of-Clement-Sector-46-Traders-Scouts-and-Small-Craft-2nd-Edition-OGL

2> Ships of Clement Sector 7-9: Defense Boats and Light Warships has returned to print. You can pick up your copy here: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/183563/Ships-of-Clement-Sector-79-Defense-Boats-and-Light-Warships-2nd-Edition-OGL

3> Ships of Clement Sector 10-12: Workhorses has returned to print. You can pick up your copy here: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/183565/Ships-of-Clement-Sector-1012-Workhorses-2nd-Edition-OGL-Version

4> The print version of Ships of Clement Sector 13-15: Escort and Support has hit a small snag. The proof sent did not pass inspection. The printer has informed me that another proof is en route and, hopefully, the problem will be solved.

5> Clement Sector: The Rules is with the editor, Curtis Rickman. Bradley Warnes is currently working on the cover art. You should be seeing this sooner rather than later.

Hope everyone is enjoying the change of seasons!

Clement Sector: The Rules will be coming along soon. Clement Sector: The Rules will provide GKG's own unique spin on The Cepheus Engine and the 2d6 OGL rules (the rules formerly known as Mongoose Traveller 1e). The book is currently in the final stages of production.

We always like to share some of the art from the book ahead of the release. Here's an excellent piece by Bradley Warnes.

An overview would be great, things like:

What's new.

What's already been published.

How does it integrate with MgT v1 or Cepheus. Does it fit one better than the other?

Well, what we've done is take the two rulesets and meld them together to create a base rules for the Clement Sector setting. The main idea was to create something that people could use as a rulebook to play in our setting. As MgT1e is no longer available, we needed something else. The Cepheus Engine met a lot of our needs but it needed a few tweaks to be what we had in mind. If you've played 2d6 Science Fiction before, a lot of this will be familiar to you as much of it was built using those two OGL rules to form the foundation of this document. Frankly, as an amalgam, it shares more in common with The Cepheus Engine than the MgT1 rules.

As far as changes go, a short list of some of the changes would be:

1> Changes in some of the rules to accommodate the Zimm Drive.

2> A few tweaks in combat such as a change in how Initiative is rolled.

3> Michael Johnson, the author of our starship books, has written some new starship combat rules.

4> I've made several changes to the skill list which I think are improvements.

For the most part, nothing we have in this book will invalidate anything you've purchased from us so far. In a way, by necessity, we've built this backwards by giving you the setting, then the starship building rules, and now the main rules. However, now the "trilogy" is complete.

Thanks for the info John.

Have you settled on a price please?

No problem at all. Happy to do it.

The PDF is going to be $14.99. It will release on October 14.

The softcover will be $24.99. The hardcover will be $49.99. Not sure of the release dates of the print versions at this point but they will not be far behind.

Thanks!

Next question! I think you've already answered this indirectly, I want to ask so as to be clear.

In the Introduction to Clement Sector 2e OGL, its written:

"While Gypsy Knights Games is not affiliated with Samardan Press or with Jason “Flynn” Kemp, we do highly recommend the Cepheus Engine rules.
In order to play in our Clement Sector setting, you will need to obtain those rules as well as the Clement Sector core setting book."

Does "Clement Sector: The Rules" now mean that the setting can be played with either the Cepheus Engine or your setting specific rules?

From what I've seen in this thread the answer is yes but the CS:TR will give the best experience. Correct?

Yes, you are correct.

A few bits of news from Gypsy Knights Games Headquarters:

1> Spent the weekend in Lancaster, PA at TravellerCon. Had a fantastic time. Got to meet some new folks, say hello to old friends, see some folks from online in person for the first time, playtest an upcoming adventure, and sell some books. Great weekend. If you have the chance, you should attend this next year.

2> Everything is on track to release Clement Sector: The Rules on PDF on Friday (October 14). In fact, I printed the final PDF for myself and was showing it about to folks at TravellerCon. Really looking forward to showing this to everyone.

3> I heard from the printers that the print proofs of Clement Sector: The Rules (both softcover and hardcover) are now en route to GKG HQ. Assuming all is well with the proofs, they may be available as early as Friday when the PDF hits. If not, they will be available quite soon.

4> Michael Johnson has turned in the draft for Wendy's Guide to the Fleets of Hub Subsector. Bradley Warnes and Ian Stead are working on the art for it. This should be ready for release in November. I'm not sure of an exact date at this point.

5> Michael Johnson is also hard at work on Ships of Clement Sector 16: Rucker-class merchant. This will be an in-depth look at one of the most popular and commonly encountered vessels in our setting.

Hope everyone is having a great October so far!
