[GK Games] News and Reviews

Here we see the Hub Federation Antelope-class SDB HFS Sable encountering a damaged Atlas-class freighter within Hollifield's Belt in the Donar system (Hub 0404).

Part of the design and procurement program as outlined in the Hub Federation Defence Forces second white paper in 2338, the Antelope-class was designed to replace the aging ex German Navy Type S system defense boats. As the new and bigger Antelope-class boats commissioned, the Type S boats were placed into naval reserve squadrons.

With powerful armament, excellent protection and stealth capability, the Antelope-class is a powerful addition to the security and defense of the Hub Federation’s member worlds.

The Antelope-class System Defence Boat is featured in Gypsy Knights Games' upcoming supplement, Ships of Clement Sector 9: System Defense Boats which will be available on August 21.

We're going to be at several conventions over the next few months running games, selling books and meeting a lot of great people.

First up on our list of conventions we'll be attending is TravellerCon! It's a small convention but full of fun folks dedicated to the Traveller role-playing game. We attended this one last year and it was great fun. Really looking forward to getting back there this year.

The convention is October 9-11 in Lancaster, PA. More information at the link!

Second on our upcoming convention itinerary is HallowCon! This is a place where not only will have a great convention experience but they will also feed you a feast several times over the weekend.

Great science fiction fun with a big dose of horror tossed into the mix.

The convention is Halloween weekend (October 30 - November 1) in Dalton, GA. You can find out more about the convention at the link.

Third on our convention itinerary is Post-Apocalypticon! The theme for this convention is that it covers all the sorts of game you could still play after the apocalypse! Lots of RPGs, card games and board games. Tons of fun!

And no actual apocalypse.

The convention is November 7-8 in Cleveland, TN.

More information can be found about this convention at the link.

Here we see a ship dropping off a group of characters in the wilds of the continent of Pease on the planet of Bowemiwak (Sequoyah 0103).

This picture illustrates one of the twenty-one adventure scenarios presented in 21 Plots Go Forth. 21 Plots Go Forth is Gypsy Knights Games' newest entry into our 21 Plots series. 21 Plots Go Forth will be available in PDF form on September 11.

Damn, you guys have some of the best artwork out there. I've bought a couple of things just because of that attention to detail.

Keep it up!

Here we see a local from the city of Waller consulting with an uplifted Kraken on Minerva (Franklin 0401). Recently, three Kraken have been murdered and the Minervan government seems uninterested in helping the uplifts find the killer. Can your characters help them?

Three Dead on Minerva is #14 of the 21 Plots presented in Gypsy Knights Games' newest entry into our 21 Plots series. Each of the 21 scenarios is presented in the style of 76 Patrons with six possible ways to end the scenario.

21 Plots Go Forth will be available in PDF form on September 11.

How does Clement handle ship identification? I assume there is some sort of transponder, but do planets have a list of known ships to compare it to or something? How easy is it for someone who stole a ship to change the transponder signal? If a planet does not recognize a ship, what is the typical practice?

Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just trying to understand more about this topic.

You're right about the transponder. And it would be difficult to change it but not impossible.

With the exception of the six worlds of The Hub Federation, the systems are going to keep (or attempt to keep) their own list of ships which have come into their system. As there is no interstellar authority, there is no "master list" which all worlds will have though members of The Captain's Guild will have the Guild pave the way for them by having them in their membership lists. Of course, the Guild is only in certain systems.

As for a reaction, as with all things in Clement Sector, the reaction to a new vessel is going to vary from place. The most common reaction is going to be sending out a security vessel (an SDB or security cutter) to check out the vessel. Of course, this assumes the system has an adequate system defense to do that. A lot of worlds will, some will not.

Hope that helps. This might be something for us to make more clear in Clement Sector 2.0.

Thanks for the question.

Hi John,

I like how you added information on who settled which planets in your Introduction pdf. Is that a fairly definitive list and assumes the others systems were settled through internal sector expansion and not by national colonization? If so, I noticed I did not see some current major powers like Russia or China listed, does that mean they never established colonies on the Clement side of the Conduit? If it's not a definitive list is there additional information in another pdf I should reference?

Also, I always imagine that when the Conduit closed, ships from various Earth countries on the Clement side would eventually try to make their way to the worlds their country of origin settled. I can also see someone like the Hub trying to strong arm ships from countries who had been allies into joining their fleet as a combined interplanetary fleet to enforce peace while they work on re-opening the Conduit. Do you have any books that talk about your vision of what happened (or can you explain the gist if it's not documented)? I don't recall reading about that in the Player's Guide or Introduction, but I may have missed it. Seems like a good item for v2 to me as it lays the foundation of what happened immediately after the collapse and over the next 11 years until the "story begins" for the characters.

Sorry this was long winded!

It actually isn't definitive but rather a set of examples as to what sorts of colonies were established in Clement Sector. There isn't really a "list" per se but the descriptions in the subsector books tend to give you that sort of information.

Most of Russia's and all of China's colonies are on the Earth side of the Conduit. Vasynov (Franklin 0106) is the Russian settled world on the Clement side.

That's exactly the way I saw it. I don't know that it is specifically said but we make a lot of allusions to it in several books. The discussions in Hub Federation Navy and Hub Federation Ground Forces touch on it quite a bit. In addition, we have a set of products in the pipeline (which have been delayed by the arrival of Mongoose 2.0) called The Wendy's Guides which detail the remaining fleets of Clement Sector, their origin and composition. A lot of those things will be addressed there but some prose in Clement Sector 2.0 describing the situation is a great idea and one that I will explore.

Not a problem! Clement Sector is my passion and I love the discussion!

Do you have a release schedule somewhere? I saw on Facebook you are working on Ships of Clement Sector 10: Lee Class Merchant Ship. I didn't notice anything about it on your website though. Would love to see what else you have in the pipeline.

Due to the Mongoose changes, we've had to postpone and rethink a lot of projects. As it stands right now, any kind of release schedule is in flux until all of the 2.0 dust settles.

After that, I'll see what we can do about getting a release schedule posted.

Speaking of the Lee-class Merchant Ship, here's a small taste of what is coming.
