Lot of important Simons on this board. Must be a RQ powername. :P

Of course it is. Everyone knows that.

So, how can you get a RQ Powername? Simple.

Change your name to Simon. Jeff doesn't really cut it, nor does Greg. We had 4 or 5 Andrews in our Uni RQ group, but Andrew doesn't sound like a Powername.

Not like Simon.

Benefits to changing your name to Simon include:
1. Being called Simon.
2. Not being called Greg or Jeff or any other non-Simon name.
3. Being confused with more talented people called Simon (several people have complimented me on my artwork and maps - me, who can't draw a straight line with a computer)
4. Getting things sent to you by mistake (allegedly)
5. Getting people come up to you at cons and talking about something another Simon has done, for ten minutes, and not realising it's the wrong one.
6. Having a Powername.
7. Being able to sound pompous at will.
8. Thinking that other people are interested in your opinions.
9. The ability to say "Simon Says".

So, join the Simons, change your name, send us some money and become all-powerful!

Actually, my limited experience in this regard suggests Greg is much better. I was once mistaken at an SF con for Greg Bear, which was odd, considering that I'm not called Greg and don't look anything like him...

7. Being able to sound pompous at will.

Not something I need any help with .

But I still love your artwork...

It used to be that the David Rune was the symbol of the Many, with many holders - Hall, Dunham, Cheng, Gadbois, etc. Now it appears that the Simon Rune is the symbol of the Many. Things have changed!

This kind of reckless abandonment of the old ways is what got the God Learners and EWF into so much trouble....!

You're all doomed...doomed I tell ye :!:

You forgot the ability to say "Simon says!"

Actually I have played with 2 Simons. The first ran a great Pavis Campaign in South london about 23 years ago. The second was at University 20 years ago. The things they had in common.
1.Both complete B*****d DMs. But good with it.
2. Both had bad Stutters.
3. Both disliked my character Simon the Stuttering Storm Bull for some reason.

If you think you may be the first Simon (can't remember your last name)- thanks for getting me addicted to RQ.

The second Simon (Mr Phipp), may be the ugliest, most annoying person I have ever met. Somehow he managed to find a pretty wife! Unbelievable! However, I begrudgingly admit to liking him, so Happy Xmas S + R.

Some of us have turned our backs on Simon-ness, I was once a Simon, but can't stand the wretched name which is why I use my middle name. This has the added advantage of making me really pompous when I write my name as S. Charles Perryman. For pointless pomposity it's up there with the likes of Marcus L. Rowland (he says showing his age).

I was running RQ in Pavis, South London about that time but I don't think I stutter and the character doesn't ring a bell so it was probably someone else. Still it gave me a moment of teary-eyed nostalgia for the old days and the Guild of Melee & Magic in sunny Penge, so thank you for that. Oh and of course I'm not a B******d DM, I'm a lovely fluffy kind DM. Honest, Guv!

At the risk of reigniting the Alloppo/Soltakss show ...

I remember being a nice, kind, sympathetic GM.

I prefer stammer, as it's easier to say.

Anyway, the Internet is a ggreat lleveller.

Mainly because he was rubbish as a Stormbuller, as I recall.

And to you too.

Alloppo's not too bad for an accountant, either.
