German navy acronym?

Did the Kriegsmarine have an acronym? For example the British ships are all "HMS". Japanese ships are "IJN". US ships are "USS". Whenever I see German ships listed or mentioned it's just "Bismark" or "Graf Spee".

I'm just labeling my ships and want to get it right.

I thought it was KMS...

No, but both KMS and DKM tend to weave their way around wargamers tables a bit. Nothing wrong with that.

My wife insisted that we use 3 letter abbreviations for each navy when labeling the underside of our bases with nationality, class, and PL.

So we use:

USN
IJN
BRN
DKM

Well, it should probably be USSRN! LOL!!

For three letters, I guess you could go:

SUN
SCN (Soviet Citizen's Navy)
CWG (Comerades w/ Guns)

you guys might try this page

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_prefix

though it doesn't list USSR, sorry!

What the hell!
How come the United Federation Planets gets in there but not the USSR?!

As stated there the Kriegsmarine and Imperial Japanese Navy didn't use acronyms, possible that the USSR didn't either especially as the Russians don't use the one stated there themselves...

The current prefix used internationally is "RFS" for 'Russian Federation Ship', but note that internally it is not used. This would not work outside of the current time frame.
