Anybody going to GenCon? Have you looked for Traveller events? I haven't been able to find...any. Is that the case?

I wish I could go, but it is simply not in the cards for me this year. I know some folks who are going and they could not find any Traveller going on at all.

Any ideas on why this is? It can't be a MT thing because there's not even any Classic Trav available.

Are most Traveller gamers not in North America? Anybody have any theories?

I know the two times I've been to GenCon in the past, there were some excellent T20 games being run by "Flynn" (now of Samardan Press). That's been a few years back though. Over the past few years, when I've looked over the GenCon catalog, Traveller games have been very few and far between.

I dont know why there are so few. Certainly when I mention at conventions that I'm running Traveller I often get a positive response (though often this comes with "People still play that?" and "I haven't played that in YEARS!"). I also get a full game with a few people watching as well.

We ran a slate of games at GenCon last year but for various reasons we weren't able to this year. Then looking at the catalog I couldn't find any Traveller games. At first I thought my Excel skills had let me down but it appears now that is indeed the case (that there aren't any Traveller games).

There use to be a Traveller Con here in the US...and I went to one in PA once a few years back. Pretty freaking awesome to say the least.

Sorry about that. Apparently, last year MY Excel skills failed me. I could have sent a couple of guys (including the guy I use now as an editor) your direction. They were looking for a Traveller game.

Us, US based Traveller publishers should try and get something together for the Traveller Convention in PA. At least a care package of product give aways or something. It's a long ways for me to PA and I'm not sure how big the convention is.

I agree. I think that's a brilliant idea.

It is a long way for me too (though not as far as for you), but if I can work the financial and scheduling angles out I might try to go up there.

Could some list the LINK to the Traveller Convention in PA. The more details the better we will all be and maybe we can even meet up at the convention.

I run tons of Traveller during the year at various cons in the OR/WA/MT region... I'm talking 6 to 8 depending on if it's a 3 day or 4 day con. Nothing like 40 hours of intense Traveller action to keep the heart pumping.

It seems that I will be at Gencon but, instead of running RPGs the plan is I'll be demoing minis IN the Mongoose booth. (ahh yes, memories of the days working for WotC running four or five different minis games for demos all Gencon long).

It would be nice if some Traveller games were happening, Especially MGT games (MT is MegaTraveller).
